UNINTENDED CONSQUENCES
WARNING. If you own a hybrid or electric vehicle that has come into contact with saltwater due to recent flooding within the last 24 hours, it is crucial to relocate the vehicle from your garage without delay. Saltwater exposure can trigger combustion in lithium-ion batteries. If possible, transfer your vehicle to higher ground,” Palm Harbor Fire Rescue (PHFR), Florida, said in an Aug. 31 Facebook post

That’s not just a Telsa.
But all those Toyota Prius’s as well.
This is an interesting point, as I’ve put a hybrid Highlander on my short list of next vehicles. Apparently, Toyota has NOT followed the EV path, but it has put its emphasis on hybrids and in the process, removed troublesome maintenance items from its engines, like starters and timing belts and much more.
That said, I don’t find myself near salt water all that often. IIRC, Daytona stopped allowing vehicles to park ON THE BEACH like they used to. (Folks used to get surprises during high tide!)
