Carney is no problem. Poilievre needs only to run a competent campaign, and he will win a majority government. The worry, for Canadians, is that like all Canadian leaders, he will be a tool of the establishment. I know people don’t want to believe that, but Canada has an unblemished record of serving the boss. Trump is pissed with us for precisely that reason. I don’t mean that he will govern like Castreau, I mean that he will protect our vested powers over the interests of Canadians in a rapidly changing world. All of our political parties are firmly controlled, so don’t assume Poilievre is not. Trump can break that control, but it will be for American interests, not ours. Trump is taking on the American deep state. There is no reason Poilievre can’t do the same. He has open ice.
