The temperature is in the single digits right now. Yesterday, my friends found out about a family with a woman who is five months pregnant. Their house burned down during hurricane helene, and they’ve been living in a tent for months.

They were denied debris removal from FEMA, they couldn’t afford to remove the remaining debris of their home to rebuild on their own so they tried to burn it on site which resulted in a huge fine from the county, and the recent freezing temps was the proverbial straw that broke the camels and sent them into a state of despair.
