Most Canadians are unaware of recent developments. Here’s what’s been happening:
Canadian lawyers under the banner of The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms has been retained to challenge Trudeau’s prorogation. In their appeal to the courts they argued the matter is of utmost urgency to Canadians.

Some background: Two Canadians, both living in Nova Scotia, took their appeal to the Justice Centre. One is a doctor and a lawyer – the other is a doctor. Lead council is Toronto Lawyer James Manson. The appeal to the courts was delivered on a Friday 8 days ago. It was unknow if the case could even come to trial. Early last week we learned the courts declared the case will be permitted to proceed.

Today we learned the courts agreed the matter is of utmost urgency and will proceed quickly. Trudeau is livid, but he is powerless stop the case from proceeding.

EDIT: More background… At stake is whether or not parliament can be prorogued for the benefit of the ruling party, rather than for the benefit of ministers in the performance of their duty. There is no precedent for this challenge in Canada. However, there is precedent in the UK. During the Brexit “crisis” Boris Johnson prorogued parliament to gain advantage for the Conservative party. The decision was challenged in court. The court ruled that parliament may not be prorogued to the disadvantage of ministers in the performance of their duty. Johnson lost, and parliament was restored.
