After the election, Elections B.C. even admitted to an abundance of errors, including an entire ballot box that officials had somehow failed to count — however, they assured the public that none of these issues impacted the overall results. Conservative leader John Rustad team has been working quietly behind the scenes to determine whether this was just a close election or if anything nefarious actually took place.

Non Canadian citizens voting and would-be voters being told they can’t vote—because their ballots were already cast—are just some examples of alleged voting irregularities in British Columbia’s most recent election. The discrepancies may very well have altered the election outcome, with New Democrats holding a one-seat majority as of writing.

Among the most damning revelations involved Argyll Lodge, a care home for the mentally ill situated across the street from a voting centre, which reported 21 mail-in votes. However, some residents claimed they had not cast any ballots at all. This occurred in Surrey-Guilford, a riding that the conservatives lost by a mere 22 votes.

Rustad is now calling for an independent review of the results and Elections B.C., while Honveer Singh Randhawa, the candidate who lost in the Surrey-Guilford riding, is petitioning for a by-election.
