Altius the ultimate coffee can stock breaks out on ground breaking news
For those who don’t know the Altius story it is a commodity/mineral based royalty company started by Brain Dalton in his college dorm room almost 30 years ago. They have now grown up and through trial and error have created a well tested business plan and found a niche with a Warren Buffet style moat in the resource industry, I consider them the ultimate coffee can stock. Just put it away for a few decades and spend it in retirement or leave it to your kids. I have stuffed my family trust full of it.
I am not here to pitch the stock, just to make you aware of them or to those who already know to show you the chart as it should awaken you from your burnt out gold stock slumber.
Altius was a near 100 bagger from its IPO price. Essentially it has spent the past 15 years consolidating that incredible move. That digestion process is now over and it is now back on the move. It is still cheap BTW as few know it and the stock has been so boring no one cares.
I recommend watching a few youtube videos of interviews with Brian the CEO. You will see that he owns three things in his life. His house a car and the rest is all in Altius stock. That’s what one calls skin in the game!. Another suggestion is to just ask Chat GPT what is Altius minerals? I have found that when people ask me to explain something which takes a long explanation this is a good way to do it as long as the explanation doesn’t require any political insight.
I have followed this company for 23 years and kind of know the ins and outs of it. It is an amazing story how they came about acquiring the assets they have. Especially the potash royalties.
The reason for the break out on Friday was because of the favorable ruling they received on the Silicon royalty in Nevada. It is a game changer… again Chap GPT.
WOW….That is one Hell of a Chart Plunger
Thanks !!
Yeah and it is 100% in line with Weinstein criteria for buying
Plunger, are you from Newfoundland?
I’ve owned Altius since 2006 at about $8. I’m not sure they’ve been completely shareholder friendly though. I complained to Brian Dalton about his share repurchases in 2007 when the stock was over $20. Then he issued more shares at $28 and later at lower prices than the buybacks .
I also bought the IPO for Altius Renewable Royalty at $11 and held for years before they engineered a take private deal last year only to receive $12 at the end of last year. Yes, they still hold the majority of the Renewable shares in Altius but future earnings is uncertain and risky.
I also like and hold royalty companies Franco-Nevada and Labrador Iron Ore for their focus and yield but a basket helps to smooth out the risks, upside and downside of each name.
Peace brother.
No not from Newfoundland, but I used to fly over it all the time.. 🙂 That 2007 era was forever ago. The company has matured and seasoned a lot since then. I remember Chad Wells was cocky over the edge back then. Also they had a near death experience with their involvement with the oil refinery back then. Like I have said they have grown up now, they have seasoned. One thing Brian really understands is the cycles and how to identify it and position oneself. This is why it’s a coffee can, he does the timing you don’t have to. He understands incentive pricing drives the cycle.
When 95% of your own wealth is in the stock, he is the definition of aligning his interests with the shareholder.
Well if you like Altius, then you should check out NICU.V = Magna Mining. The CEO owns about 10% of the outstanding shares so is doing everything right to make his company successful. They are closing a deal to buy a currently profitable copper mine from KGMH and just closed another deal to buy 7 properties worth 35 million from the previous owner for $1.00 – incredible. So in 3-4 years they will have possibly 4 producing mines so the stock will definitely jump from its current valuation from ~$1.50 CAD to over $8.00 by then. They will have mine life of over 20 years with all the mines they have coming into production so definitely a coffee can stock also.
