BREAKING: Judge orders Trump to appear for sentencing in New York hush money case on Jan. 10, just over a week before inauguration
BREAKING: Judge orders Trump to appear for sentencing in New York hush money case on Jan. 10, just over a week before inauguration
“he could appear in person or remotely for the sentencing”
and
expected to sentence him to ‘unconditional discharge’
HA….So this Asshole Judge finally caved
He Needs to be Jailed himself.
NOTHING in politics happens by accident ………
What are the implications of such a decision regarding Congress (or Senate?) using the 14th Amendment to disqualify Trump presidency?? This NEW sentencing PR says the event occurs just 10 days prior to inauguration. What if Merchan backtracks, says he changed his mind and Trump must serve 1 day in penetentiary? What effect would these or similar changes have on inauguration?
“Judge Juan M. Merchan, who presided over Trump’s trial, signaled in a written decision that he’d sentence the former and future president to what’s known as an unconditional discharge, in which a case is closed without jail time, a fine or probation. Trump can appear virtually for sentencing, if he chooses.
Rejecting Trump’s push to dismiss the verdict and throw out the case on presidential immunity grounds and because of his impending second term, Merchan wrote that only “bringing finality to this matter” would serve the interests of justice.” (from Yahoo News)
So IF it plays out per above — Trump would receive an unconditional discharge but RETAINS his felony conviction forever!
WOULD THESE ACTIONS:
1) confirm that he has been sentenced as a FELON and is therefore subject to 14th Amendment (Section 3). (ie part of Democrat plan)
2) Would an unconditional discharge REMOVE / NEGATE his ability to “appeal the conviction” and make it ineligible for circuit & supreme court appeals.
3) What else could the DS be trying to orchestrate via this late notice sentencing?
Does anyone believe that this is NOT a DS move to give them the means to “bringing finality to this matter” would serve the interests of justice.”
Good questions.
I suspect the legal beagles will be on this over the weekend.
I’ll followup if they do.

CONDITIONAL ! The condition is he never commits another crime

“defendant avoids rearrest.”
or conviction?
big difference.
