My head is still spinning from Syria folding like a cheap tent. It couldn’t have happened without both Russia and Iran pulling back. Perhaps they thought they shouldn’t fight for a country that won’t fight for itself. Both countries seem to be making entreaties to the new powers so as to allow for cooperation. Chaos will likely ensue. That is what the US and Israel thrive on. Russia and Iran are probably wise to step back rather than engage in what is essentially a civil war. They will be working even more closely now. Don’t forget, Russia has superior missile technology and much superior air defence. If, as it seems, Israel is determined to bring the US into a war with Iran, the US will suffer a tragic defeat, and Donald Trump’s presidency will be a massive failure. Maybe then Americans will accept that Israel doesn’t care any more about them than they do their Arab neighbours.
