Up until the election Putin had all the cards ( He was playing against amatures )….BUT all of a sudden the Ruble is Rubble …They are saying it’s because Sanctions…but sanctions have been ongoing for 3 years
Another side of this is Trump will open the Oil and Gas Spigots which will reduce the price and Hurt Russia as well .

It probably comes down to what TERMS Trump wants out of EndofWar Deal.
He probably wants something MORE than just The End.
He probably spoke with Zelensky about a Face Saving End.
One that also meets Putin’s terms. (keep the east, no NATO, buffer, etc)
Zelensky wants to avoid a carve up to Poland and Romania.
Trump (and neocons) want preferential access to Ukraine mineral wealth.

Ukraine Keeps Odessa and Kiev and a new Mutually acceptable President and Parlaiment is installed

will be messy negotiation but everyone knows it’s in their best interest to get it done
Econ 101. Russia produces everything it needs. There is probably no country in the world better able to withstand the vicissitudes of currency traders. Canadians take note: we are similarly blessed. Would that we had Russia’s strength of character!
With the sanctions and implementation of the BRICS, I thought Russia was not transacting much (if anything) in $US anymore — so why would a change in currency pairing have any impact on the sovereign state whatsoever?
How does Putin pay from his monthly gold purchases — is he forced to use $US or are there alternative payment methods?
If Putin is not using Rubles to acquire $US the exchange rate seems meaningless and/or makes Russian goods MORE competitive in $US priced markets.
Seems likely that messing with the financial system has something to do with a strategy to end the Ukraine war……..
I suppose it could be a “colour revolution” strategy to depose Putin by forcing the Russian CB to increase interest rates in defense of the Ruble. Make citizens angry if rates get too high.
Still a Ukrainian war tactic — just financial vs kinetic — the Kremlin must have war-gamed this strategy when the conflict first broke out (I would suspect anyways).
K2, Russia’s leadership has overwhelming support from its people. There won’t be any colour revolution in Russia. They are winning their SMO, and if it broadens to a world war, they will win that war. If the degenerate west continues to escalate, Russia has defensive systems in place to survive any and all western attacks. The west has no such systems.

When they realize Russia exports more than it imports (far more) their heads will blow
So essentially, a short term raise of the ruble course, can bring in more money if a bulk of sales is done in that time.
If the ruble course will go down soon, it was a trick.
PS: The dollar-ruble exchange course is not relevant anymore, you can’t buy dollars with rubles anymore.
