   President Joe Biden has authorized the use of U.S.-supplied long-range missiles by Ukraine to strike even deeper inside Russia, the latest easing of limitations meant to prevent the conflict from further spiraling, according to one U.S. official and three people familiar with the matter.

   The decision allowing Ukraine to use the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMs, for attacks farther into Russia comes as thousands of North Korean troops have been sent into a region along Ukraine’s northern border to help Russia retake ground and as President-elect Donald Trump has said he would bring about a swift end to the war, expressing skepticism over continued support by the United States.

   This is more American bullshit. ATACMs have already been used by NATO without much success. Even the longest range ATACMs will only travel about one hundred and fifty miles into Russia, and they will probably need to use the F16s as a platform. The odds of an F16 getting close to the Russian border are quite low. Russian aircraft are much more sophisticated than the F16, better piloted and the air to air missiles they carry will have a fifty percent longer range than the ATACMs. Add in Russian air defences, and it’s clear that this decision won’t change anything.
   This is all about pretending that Russia’s SMO is still being contested vigorously, so they can blame Trump for losing it when he takes over. Trump has handled this issue very poorly. In order to take credit for ending the war, he has positioned himself to take credit for losing it. He should have long ago stated clearly that the conflict has already been lost, that no more money should be spent and that Zelensky should negotiate terms of peace.

     The one thing this dumbass move affects is Putin’s ability to escalate at will. He has warned NATO that this brings them directly into the conflict, thereby legally allowing him to treat them as combatants. I doubt he’ll strike NATO countries, but he could now do so legitimately. I don’t doubt that there are influential voices in Russia who argue that Russia should use the opening to cripple military bases all over Europe. Russia could end NATO in a week!

       It removes the ambiguity about the role of NATO and the US in any use of longer range strikes into Russia. Before it was assumed but not explicitly condoned.

       Gotta wonder now how the factions break down inside the IC and MIC. MacGregor is probably the one to ask if there are any remaining counterweights (adults in the room).

       The world has to recognize that one looney in the bin is enough to end it all, for all of us, or at least propel us back to the stone age overnight with no warning.
