Trump’s idea seems plausible if Elon and he can cut government waste, we won’t need as much to fund the government.
And then, tariffs.

Let me explain why this is so historic
Trump is the first GOP nominee to focus on building a wall
The first to focus on election fraud
And now he’s the 1st GOP nominee in US history to talk about abolishing the federal income tax
These were 3rd rails in the old GOP
Now they’re core MAGA talking points
That is HUGE – forever going forward, the GOP voting base will want someone who wants to abolish federal income tax until someone finally does it
Hopefully it’s Trump, but either way him just talking about it is historic

Federal income tax came in ca 1913 with Fed.
But if he removes income tax, there are LARGE swathes of America that this will not help. The poor (low income) or retired.
Whereas tariffs (unless NOT applicable to imported food) will dramatically raise grocery prices unless they are at lower rates or exempted.
Most winter/spring produce is not American.
