Imagine this country once again sending tanks to fight Russians, and huge sums of money to support openly nazi troops fighting Russians. Do they no longer teach history? Perhaps they do. They just found the ending of WW2 a bit unsatisfactory, and are trying to redo it.
In any event, Germany is finished as a first world country. Without Russian resources they can’t sustain a competitive manufacturing sector, and Russia is no longer amenable to friendly relations with them.

A Dutch friend/relative has explained the European media to me.
They are largely publicly underwritten. (like BBC, or ABC in OZ)
So while they are not corporate dinosaurs owned as propaganda extensions of the Status Quo like we have here, the result is more or less the same.
The media reports mostly what is acceptable within the sphere of conventional political boundaries. They have folks like our Jon Stewart who will poke fun at things, but not quite in the same insightful illuminating way. (Using sarcasm or noting the hypocrisy).
In particular, I don’t think they have a really Renegade Media, or they haven’t paved the way for people to readily access it. People seem to trust their media more, still. Like we used to here (ages ago).
I do suspect it may be different from one country to the next. Columbia has sketched out the German temperament as we all recognize them. The Poles and East Europeans might be quicker to Dissent. Those in the south are more interested in their next holiday plans, unless someone threatens to take something of theirs away.
Europe seems not to have caught on to Think For Yourselves and Question Authority. Its not the norm here either, but its growing.
