Perhaps the first step towards mass measures for the purpose of harming humanity . This practice has been considered the pinnacle of “Public health” measures for Decades !

Yes Flouride hardens enamel but putting in in the water supply so it gets into circulation is INSANE
Applying it Topically for a minute in toothpase and then spitting it out is far more effective and targeted
Putting it in the water supply to reduce cavities is like giving chemotherapy to everyone to “prevent” cancer….The Public Health Dentits are sub- morons. Only these cretins that barely scrape by in dental school or have the personality of toast so they can’t make it in practice migrate to “Public Health ”
It got even worse for a while back in the 70’s and 80s
We were convinced by a drug company that it was a good idea to give pregnant moms Flouride tablets
so their babies teeth would come in invincible to cavities.
Turns out these kids did have strong enamel but many of them had Mottled Enamel…like this
And many of the moms suffered from bone diseases .
No one went to jail No one appologized . No one acknowleged . They just quietly stopped pushing us to provide these tablets. Imagine that Dentists prescribibing literal poison pills to pregnant patients

They fluoridate the water in London which is why I bought a distiller to make pure water for my own personal consumption. The city council here is so stupid. Or should I say bought off – London is on the list of 15 min cities, so it’s no wonder they implement all these stupid policies.
Fully, the profession in general is honourable but our Provincial and National Associations just go along with whatever HealthCanada dictates. All professions have bad apples, in private practice and in the Professional Associations (Just another form of Trade Union).
The only time the Association raises a fuss is to protect the financial outcome of a Government program. I understand the National Dental Program is a disaster. Not many providers signing up and the vast majority of the population does not qualify.
I agree most dentists have integrity but at the top there is no such thing
Actually to be honest the Canadian Seniors Dental Plan is going very well here
MOST seniors do qualify and the paperwork is fast and efficient
Most get 80% coverage for a wide variety of Services including dentures
If you are not on the program here///your patients migrate…so everyone is on

Fully, I thought it was means tested. We don’t have Dental insurance but we do not qualify for the Dental Plan. Neither do most of my retired neighbours with a work plan or not.
If the profession, in general, is honourable, why have its practitioners over the past decades been silent, for the most part, about fluoride? What other malign practices have gone unreported by those who should be in the know? Physicians, as well, behaved like paid government shills during the clot shot fiasco, and continue to do so. For the most part, the “professions” have betrayed the faith that people have unwisely placed in them. Those areas of important work will be fundamentally changed over the coming years because of that betrayal. Government, professional organization and university stamps of approval no longer carry any sway precisely because they have all been found to be dishonourable.
Strider, the simple reason is that the Provincial Fee Guide that Insurance Companies use to reimburse for a Fluoride Treatment at the end of a Hygiene appt is a money maker. It takes less than 2 minutes to hand the rinse or deliver the foam trays for a minute, spit or evacuate via the suction. Less than $2 for materials and the fee guide allows for a $15+ fee. Great return on the Hygienist’s time and materials.
Many kids swallow some if the tray is over-loaded and throw up soon after.
A fluoride treatment after a prophy does not have the lasting effect as at home flossing and brushing with a fluoridated ToothPaste and rinsing out a minute afterwards.
In the 90’s I did some personal research and found it to be toxic if swallowed.
After that I did not charge for the Fluoride rinse for kids and gave the discretion to the Hygienists as to who may have benefited. Not many. Cavities were way down by that time. Why? Better oral hygiene, peer pressure and nutritional counselling by the Hygienist.
The worst kids were our Old Order Mennonites. A disaster as they ate copious amounts of sugar and hygiene was not a priority. Felt bad filling all their teeth repeatedly! Could not seem to get it across to them. They willingly whipped out a wad of cash and paid everytime. Sheesh!
A proper diet and hygiene can eliminate a mouthful of cavities in kids. I grew up in the era of an abundance of candy. Remember when stray pop bottles were worth 2 cents at return and that bought a hell of a lot of candy that one would never tell a parent. I lived 120 ft from a variety store which had an overgrown vacant lot next door where one could source many empty pop bottles in the Summer. Damn!
I don’t miss Dentistry. Liked the people but it was heart breaking knowing that cavities were preventable. Really bothered me.
In short Fluoride is a profit centre. So why quit.
