Just to mention two large retailers:
Canadian Tire and Marks (Work Wearhouse)
Both are having a large “clearance” sale nationwide. Not just seasonal items.
I don’t know prices in general but I checked a few items that I had purchased in the past few years and they are at a discount to those purchases which I had purchased on sale, in 2021!
ABSOLUTELY COLUMBIA …You don’t see this on MSM or anywhere BUT some serious shit is going down
I go to Tim Hortons here in my little Towns ( 3 of them ..different Towns) for a coffee and bagel most days
used to be long lines any time of day
Now I usually just drive on thru…no waiting
I drive by a McDonalds every day…same
This is NOT sustainable
Same experience in BC — (except far fewer Tim Hortons stores to begin with).
Drive through’s are not busy!
And “they” are telling us that it is because of people preferring to order via Uber Eats, Doordash etc.
We will know by the Q3 earnings report of Lowe’s and Home Depot. Could they report losses? Yes. Could they both slash dividends like Intel? Yes

We are in the beginning stages of a depression is what is going on here. Real estate has eaten the entire economy. There is no backbone and no meat on this corpse of a Canadian economy. As employment and opportunity dwindle those swimming naked are all about to be seen. Look at the savings numbers! F&*%….what a disaster.
Everything is interconnected. If one of the asset classes goes down, everything will go down. Owning your home outright and having physical only goes so far as long as you have the physical to pay the for food, taxes and utilities until a recovery.
I imagine if one were paranoid, they would liquidate and convert all paper assets into physical and sell off only what you require to live. None of us would be discussing mining shares.
The ultimate goal of our “masters” is ‘You will own nothing” and they will use a digital UBI to control the serfs as they kill us off. Please don’t take this as dark and depressing. Life is good. Live each day to it’s fullest. The World will go on.
