This is a good exercise to keep the idea of total volumes in mind. It is rarity after all that gives precious metals their unique ability to be monetary metals. Few people are even aware that there is a relationship between population and the relative abundance of gold and silver. Gold for example crashed the Spanish economy after the 16th century as a flood of it from the New World caused its devaluation back home and thus withering inflation erupted which bankrupted the King. The gold of the Incas was a curse on the Spanish. What seemed at first like a cornucopia of unlimited wealth flowing in by sea year after year instead became the impetus for an economic collapse. It was because gold was money. That was the whole problem. And the population was discordant with the flows.
Sir Silver Fox, Thanks for addressing this topic. There is a VERY IMPORTANT related question regarding how much above ground silver exists and how it relates to the current and future price per ounce. The 25 billion ounce figure, most likely does NOT address the critical issue, of how much of it is actual physical metal and how much of it is paper derivatives being held and counted by ETF’s and exchange inventories. The 50 years of paper derivative issuance used to suppress true price discovery, has to be deducted from the 25 billion. I doubt anyone knows what the figure is and until we and the market does know, an accurate price projection is impossible to determine. Suffice it to say, that it will project to many multiples of the current price.
WOW…that makes www a hoarder of the first order with 777.7777 times my share….near enough….and 777 is GOD’s number in the Bible….near enough. Coincidence????
