WOW, 50% off?????? Is that because charting no longer works since the advent of all the market rigging with ETF’s and super computers like BlackRocks Aladdin, who owns and/or controls more than 50% of all the hundreds of ETF’s, which own nothing and only TRACK and report the value of the underlying securities each ETF represents, but do not actually own, Nor do you, as an investor in ETF’s, own anything . IMO these Derivatives (ETF’s) are the rabbit hole down which the markets have tumbled, right along with all credibility. IMO this, among other things, has destroyed the ability of charting to foresee the future, unless you are an insider and privy to the playbook(s). All FWIW and DYODD!
WOW…Thats incredible Wildwood
Thanks for sharing this
I agree with you
Charting has become a weapon used against us.
NO ONE is making money in these markets except AI Algore Rythms
You have tweaked my desire to quit stockcharts as well
“which own nothing and only TRACK and report the value of the underlying securities each ETF represents, but do not actually own, Nor do you, as an investor in ETF’s, own anything .”
Spot on. David Webb in the Great Taking highlights this fact.
The ETFs do not legally own any of the securities. They only have an unsecured creditor claim on them.
Investors in ETFs also only have a beneficial ownership claim on the ETF.
So for the ETF investor, there are two layers of counterparty risks. Not to mention the algo’s which are manipulating prices of all the underlying securities, which nobody legally owns.
Try looking into the Bear and Bull 2x and 3x ETF’s which reset daily and are only a trading vehicle somewhat more successful than a casino or a local charity lottery.
Suspicious minds have been warning us for years not to buy gold though any ETF’s and it turns out the warnings were all true.
If you own a mutual fund, you also do not directly own the underlying(s), but instead have just a beneficial interest in the fund. So that covers a lot of employee 401ks.
Re stockcharts, a friend who blogs frequently comments that text boxes he places and saves to his charts, are regularly lost when he opens them up the next time. He hasn’t switched because of his vast history catalog.
Does stockcharts offer a real time version? Never use them myself. 20 years ago, I saved some charts as templates, but then they made it so their charting parameters could no longer be saved via URLs. I get the sense that most active chartists are using Trading View instead.
Same, I quit them many years ago. My biggest beef was, there were several Canadian resources stocks I had in my PF but wouldn’t plot at SC. Requesting ticker to add was not enough. More than one person hat to request it. So I was then on forums asking other people to request some ticker to be added.
Yet, I could get same tickers came charts on other free platforming charts. And I was paying for that?!? So I stopped 🙂
Now a days, I don’t pay for any charting. I can even do little bit of analyzing and charting on my own with some python programing. Although not that good, that wouldn’t get me into trouble, entering at the wrong time 😉
Back to SC, I do like these free 12 charts, to get quick overview over some sector:
https://stockcharts.com/freecharts/candleglance.html?CCJ,KAP.L,NXE,SRUUF,PALAF,UUUU,DNN,UEC,YLLXF,LEU,GLATF,BQSSF|B|0
you can easy switch them all to 6 or 12 months:
https://stockcharts.com/freecharts/candleglance.html?CCJ,KAP.L,NXE,SRUUF,PALAF,UUUU,DNN,UEC,YLLXF,LEU,GLATF,BQSSF|D|0
So I tend to have one for each sector I’m interested in…
I think tradingview is better. However, I keep my stockcharts account because I have stuff there from well over a decade ago in terms of indicators etc that would be difficult to reproduce elsewhere.
