The cycle of violence in the Middle East

If something is not done about the revenge violence we are witnessing, it will draw the entire world into a bad place

Rights grow out of the barrel of a gun.
No peoples are exempt from having done terrible things in the name of taking or preserving rights and power—the US violently evicted natives and also dropped 2 nukes on women and children to name a couple of instances.
No one’s hands are clean. We’ve all greatly benefitted from violence inflicted on innocents.
Basically, Israel wants to exterminate Palestinians and take the last vestiges of their land. They now have their excuse. But let’s not pretend this has anything to do with self defense. This is what the Israelis have wanted from day one. Is it right? Probably not, but then by the same logic you could say the same thing about America, and I would be a hypocrite for castigating Israel.
Rights are protected out of the barrel of a gun. And can be destroyed the same way. It’s why the founding fathers made sure EVERYONE had a gun to protect those rights from the evil hand of government, the single biggest threat to God-given human rights.
This is one way of looking at it BUT…OK…White Europeons left THEIR homeland because THEY were persecuted and settled in North America…where it can be argued they “stole” the land from the “indiginous” Population…BUT go back a little further in time …The “Indiginous”
population was NOT Always in North America…They came there from somewhere else ( Asia ? )…were there NO previous populations who were conquered back then…of course there were..
And The “Indians” were tribal ..conquering other tribes . taking land and slaughtering their people …It has always been the survival of the fitest…
Humans are animals when it comes right down to it. In the Animal world it’s survival of the fitest…
We like to think we are above the primal dog eat dog paradigm but looking at history this way…we are not
“Humans are animals when it comes right down to it.”
Speak for yourself! I prefer Terence McKenna’s views on the subject, as described in his book, ‘Food of the Gods’. In it, he speculates on cycles for humans, just like for everything. In this regard, the primary human cycle is between competition & survival and co-operation & thriving. The primary trend since the advent of agriculture has obviously been the former. Of course there are counter-trends and individuals bucking the trends, doing their own thing. Ever since I was a child, it was obvious to me that the primary trend I was born into has no future, so it’s logical to me that the trend will change to something that does have a future, as in it will enter the predominantly positive stage of the major cycle. I’ve always felt out of place, not interested in integrating and adopting the common crap, so I navigate life in a different manner than most. My experience is that free will does exist. So far, so good!
Peace Love & Happiness
or, at the very least:
Sex Drugs & Rock n Roll! 😉
I’ll add the following: If it was easy, anyone could do it. Yet, in our own way, each of us is actually doing ‘it’.
IMO it’s the challenges encountered in living in the full spectrum of life that makes anything worth the doing. Besides that, it seems a good thing to keep in mind that nobody even knows what life is, let alone how it should be lived.
And furthermore… in the spirit of the power of forgiveness mentioned in the article, such forgiveness is not only the clear path, but the only path whenever this experience is viewed from the perspective that WE ARE ALL ONE, that all of us part of the whole. Ultimately, there is no actual separation, only the illusion of it, because of individual perspective. The idea of one perspective acting against another makes no more sense than the right hand acting against the left, when the realization is made they are both parts of the same body.
Excellent post, thanks. Sharing this widely.
Superb. Precisely on point.
