It was actually the Dem’s who vacated McCarthy. Had they not voted Yes, unamimously, he would still be Speaker and the House’s business would continue instead of now being in a one week recess. Why would they do this when they weren’t being asked to actually vote for a GOP Speaker just not to remove him? It wasn’t like they had a chance to get one of their own in the position and McCarthy is the guy who has twice caved to get their and Joe Biden’s spending ceiling lifted and CR to keep the govt. running. So why would they vote to remove him when he was the best GOP Speaker they could want considering they were in the minority? To delay the two critical actions that a recess and chaos about a new Speaker creates. First, since it has become obvious most of America is against wasting any more money in Ukraine, the Dems don’t want to have to vote on that so a delay allows it to possibly fall apart where they don’t get blamed. If Ukraine falls to Russia in the next few weeks Biden can blame the GOP for stalling more aid. The even bigger reason the Dems want to delay the House is to hold up the Impeachment of Biden for as long as possible. It is going to happen eventually and Biden knows his days are numbered before he will have to resign. He is trying to last until Dec. or Jan. These are the two most likely reasons for pushing out McCarthy when they should have stayed out of the Republican fight. All they had to do was vote Nay, but this is what they needed at this particular time. Delay and chaos, because the Biden administration will soon be a thing of the past.
