BUT Muslims and Sihks and Latinos are Culturally more “conservative” than Canadians and Americans of natural birth.

As for escaping totalitarians, I doubt most immigrants have come from countries any more totalitarian than Canada. They are economic refugees, a category of immigrant we were not favourable toward in the distant past.
With immigrants it’s always a battle between family and religious values on the one hand, and how deferential the government is to their “issues” – financial and immigration benefits – on the other. So politicians show up with families in tow, and speak about how religion “informs” their everyday decision making. That’s generally enough to get immigrants back to voting on their “issues”. Having trannies twerking for children is probably a bridge too far, yet it might be wise to wait and see on that.
