If you scroll over any of those African bases you will find that they mostly have fewer than 100 people assigned to them. They barely qualify as posts let alone actual bases of operation. Africom itself, also named Africa Command, is not even in Africa! Its in Stuttgart, Germany. The presence of US military personal in Africa is extremely thin on the ground and may be close to nonexistant other than in a few key regions like Somalia and Libya.
