California Gold Rush
Common GL, why didn’t you tell us about this? Keeping it ALL for yourself? And what the heck was FGC doing there? “‘Woooo-hoo-hoooo!’ the man said of his find – a piece of gold just big enough to pinch between your fingers that is worth around $100.” https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12003731/Wildfires-rain-California-trigger-Gold-Rush-2-0-metal-goes-1-900-ounce.html
And to think that the mother lode or the source of the gold has never been found yet.
Hitching up Mojo …There’s gold in them thr hills !
$100 of gold ? Thats 1 /20th an ounce ..
I forgot about Mojo, now he can earn his keep. “Go West young man”.LOL
CM, being an ex New Yorker, back in my gold panning days I was looking into finding gold in NY. There is some minor gold deposits in NY and you can probably do a google search to locate them ifffin you get a desire to pan gold for some recreation. I also believe there is some minor gold in northern NJ. Plus I believe there are some gem stones there like garnets.
I have always had a hankerin to try it but never did. Meant to check out an old gold mine in NC when I lived in Charlotte but never did.
After major storms that increases the flow of water, gold can be obtained in areas that one would never think of.
In 2011 when Hurricane Irene had finished it’s destruction, some people in New England were finding gold just below where a road culvert emptied into a pool on the down stream side before it meandered on. Lots of quartz in them thar hills where gold is usually discovered. The amount was usually so small it was not worth the effort but some did make a hobby of it.
I wondered how much gold settled out in the corrugated bottom of the culvert that one could not reach. Like placer mining’s “rocker box”.
