Iranian-Designed Drone Production Site To Be Built Inside Russia
Russia and Iran plan to establish a joint drone manufacturing facility inside Russia, according to a weekend Wall Street Journal report, which comes following US and European efforts to target Iranian-made drones going to Russia with sanctions.
The Iranian kamikaze drones which have for many months now been pummeling Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, such as the Shahed-136 drones, cost as little as $20,000 to make. According the WSJ a plant established on Russian soil to ramp up Iranian-designed drone production would result in an additional 6,000 of them rolling of the line, for deployment by Russian forces in Ukraine.
“As part of their emerging military alliance, the officials said, a high-level Iranian delegation flew to Russia in early January to visit the planned site for the factory and hammer out details to get the project up-and-running,”

Wall Street Journal … maybe it’s true, maybe it isn’t. They love to pair the Iranians with the Russians. They’re all evil, don’t you know! What they have in common is that they won’t let the west push them around, and that is hardly evil.

What I question is why do countries like Russia and others need Iran’s drones? Russia has the resources and technical expertise to make nuclear weapons, hypersonic weapons, torpedoes with enough strength to cause tsunami’s, advanced fighter jets etc. Why do they need Iran for drones? I call BS.
CM – just speculation but perhaps it doesn’t have anything to do with manufacturing capability and everything to do with geopolitical agreements to tie countries together vs the western bloc? ie: Russia helps to boost Iran while positioning itself for future opportunities and military co-operation.
While the Iranian drone design is supposedly advanced that could be re-invented by Russian engineers so it doesn’t make sense that this is a technological decision……… Perhaps the actual product is irrelevant?
