Will this turn out like the Thalidomide scandal of the 1960’s?

thalidomide – a sedative drug that was found to cause congenital malformation, especially of the limbs, in children whose mothers took it during early pregnancy to treat morning sickness. It was withdrawn from use in the early 1960s but may now be prescribed, under extremely strict guidelines, to treat certain diseases.
