   Here is my commentary on this news piece. First off I know little of Viscount, but the chart has traced out a very clear bull flag after a nice advance. But with such a nice news release it didn’t even move? Why? Probably for the same reason that GoGold hasn’t moved after fantastic drill holes. The market is exhausted. Now when their is a bull market that is recognized widely, drill results are like catnip to investors… they go crazy. Just more anecdotal evidence of where the PM market rests.

   I have come to the conclusion that most OTC stocks are not what I want to invest in. The trading commission alone is good enough reason versus no commission for NYSE and Nasdaq, then the liquidity issue is usually a factor also, I have some OTC stocks left in my portfolio and when we get a rally (someday…sigh) I will sell them all and never go back. Good luck if you want to try and play these things.

   Specific to this company: I have wondered about the location. It is true that it is not above Telluride or Aspen or in fact Boulder (pretty near all of which there used to be much PM mining) but rather near agricultural and industrial areas. Nevertheless the state seems as if in might as well had its officials elected from Davos from some news reports I’ve scanned. I believe that I have seen anti-meat eating measures being suggested state-wide in this state w/ big cattle industry and slaughterhouses. I do not follow carefully, so I may be wrong.

   Additionally forest fires have been a prob in the general region. I have suspiciously wondered (call me paranoid) whether fires have been set/allowed etc to threaten mines and mining properties even in mining-friendlier places like Idaho and Ontario (see Red Lake–apparently rain today??? though). A paranoid’s reason to be skittish about PM stocks other than of the most politically well connected ones, esp in “liberal” states.

   I do still speculate in explorers and developers a little and all things being equal I’d prefer to do more. Yet at a stage like mine I personally wonder whether it isn’t just easier to the extent one doesn’t prefer cash (or bullion if unlike me one knows of a really good way to hold it) to let politically well connected companies scout out the properties for me, companies that aren’t going to be subject to weird laws etc. I mean FNV, WPM, RGLD, NEM, maybe Barrick. They will get creamed when the market overall gets creamed, but they’ll go back up relatively early. FNV and WPM can sell themselves as new-age clean energy companies and silver companies to some extent. They and RGLD can sell themselves as financiers to some extent. All these companies have probably put at least minimal intelligence into figuring out exposure to copper and silver vs gold.
