   What’s with the bias lecture ? Did you look at my gold chart in the previous post ? No bias. Cold, raw facts. When the CHART says it’s time to get out, it’s time to get out. Notice I said, The CHART, not me, the CHART. In other words, don’t listen to me because my opinion might be biased, look at what the CHART (the evidence) is telling us. Can you explain why you think my post displays bias when I’m just letting the CHART speak for itself ? I have had 30 years in climate science and weather forecasting. We’re trained from day one to factor in EVERY possibility, however miniscule, because something that has a one in a billion chance of happening, could indeed happen. That’s why I’ve ALWAYS acknowledged gold to $800 or even less as a possibility (however small). Nevertheless, as an investor it makes sense to invest your money according to the evidence and follow the ‘balance of probability’. That means working out which is the highest probability outcome. Until these two charts break one of the trend lines the overwhelming odds are that gold is in a bull market. That’s self evident. Not because I said it, but because the chart is unequivocal in that fact.

     a) It’s not a lecture, I’m just making a point that you’re a permabull.
     b) It isn’t “THE” chart, it’s “YOUR” chart. You’re taking as if the chart YOU YOURSELF HAVE DRAWN is some type of omnipotent being that can accurately predict the future gold price,
     which is insane.
     c) Your 30 years experience in climate science (the ex cathedra, “appeal to authority” argument) is both offensive and completely irrelevant to determining the future price of gold.
     I have a Bsc in Economics from Warwick University, (UK Ivy League) yet you never hear me bleating about it.
     d) You have no “special knowledge”. If you want to throw away your money, fine, but don’t try to convict other people to do likewise. You have an opinion on the future price of gold,
     backed up by a chart you yourself have drawn up, nothing more.
     e) I think gold is going to get a little bounce here then go down. We’ll let the markets decide which of us is correct.

       You came and made a drive by accusation of a bias and the chart being irrelevant and fly off the handle when he responds….sheesh!

   The Golden Jackass Jim Willie figures the Swiss have turned to push the gold up now. He’s a bit of an odd ball but sometimes have to be to see things for what they are. Armstrong also quipped a bit ago about the Swiss and how the USA has know idea what is going on, was a reference to their holdings of us stocks. Perhaps they can dump and start buying gold??? Good luck hold gold when the averages cross at the top, been there done that game before, that’s why SFGC started this dang site,

   Spot on Highroller. Theres no place for emotion. Use the chartology (on your preferred timescale) to tell you when to buy and when to sell. One indicator or chart isn’t enough. The more you take into account, the better chance you have of getting it right.

   Northstar, Nice work.

   You are 100% right. Your chart is laid out. Seems a person would point out a deficiency in the chart rather then just stating 10yr and a post a link describing bias (as if none of us know what a bias is…He could of just said I think this is biased…lol). Many times some people will accuse others of doing what they are themselves doing. Perhaps a look in the mirror is required by the poster.

     Appreciate your comments Im only trying to present the evidence as I see it. I’m quite prepared to be proven wrong, or at least reconsider my stance, but I need to see a strong case and supporting charts.

   Okay, I admit, maybe I was a little harsh so I apologise if I caused offense.

   This isn’t about ego for me, or being right or wrong, it’s just about making money. If you’re not making money then this is all just a waste of time IMHO.

   I do think more than one person here has a cognitive bias to gold rallying and if people could be honest with themselves in that respect they’d be better traders
   and make more money. Also, I don’t like to see people getting hurt, which is I hardly ever say say “x is going to y!” because I would never want anyone else losing
   money based on my posts.

   JL – I’m NOT a permabull. How can I be ? I’ve just said that the chart I’ve shown you will clearly let you know when to get out. I’m not sure how you can look at that chart and disagree on that point. On top of that I’ve said I expect the cycle to peak in the mid 2020’s. At which point I’ll turn bearish on PM’s. Between now and then the price should have lots of rallies and lots of pullbacks. I made the point about my statistical analysis background in order to counter your suggestion that I’m unable to weigh up the evidence, and instead stick blindly to a set course due to being a biased permabull. As you have said, the 10 yr can have a positive or negative correlation to gold price, so it tells you the square root of diddly squat. What I’d like to see are some charts to show the odds are in favour of a gold bear, using history as a way of demonstrating the point. You’re exactly right – I have no special knowledge whatsoever. I can’t know the future any more than anyone else, but I sure can use the lessons of history to figure out where we are in the gold/dollar cycle and chart the useful indicators to try and learn what it is they are saying. I’m not here for an argument, but a healthy debate is great

    Its all too easy for things to get out of hand online. I think it can be too easy to cause offence or take offence (I’m just as guilty as anyone else). Its really important to have your views challenged (constructively), as it makes you reconsider and think more deeply (or at least it does if you have an open mind).
