The Hub is reporting that Canada (including private debt) has overtaken the USA as the 4th most indebted country in the world. We now owe almost 4x our GDP.
We are right under France & Japan which are on very shaky ground at the moment. Carney is pushing us up and beyond them yet we make the headlines not too much on the subject, shhhhh
BREAKING Canadian Health Minister Michel has SEALED reports on vaccine safety for FIFTEEN YEARS the reports contain several MILLION pages of information. So safe and effective, you cant even know about it!

The Hub? I think they are making a mistake.
source is IMF and with the big chink of mortgage refi on the way it should get worse, real estate sales are the worst in over 20 years, why sell and get a bigger rate? Construction is a huge chunk of the economy from home depot to furniture stores and coffee shops…..
HR – it’s important for reference purposes to have the links. You say IMF published this so you must have seen it somewhere which means there is a link. Please add same to your posts when you have them — VERY difficult to go backwards and find/add them later. Pls & Thx
Here are two links. One is CEIC Data
https://www.ceicdata.com/en/indicator/canada/government-debt–of-nominal-gdp
Here is another. Macrotrends
https://www.macrotrends.net/global-metrics/countries/can/canada/debt-to-gdp-ratio
They are dramatically different than your chart.
Sorry for the BIG confusion, if you have the energy to click your mouse have at it here. :Adios

“The Hub? I think they are making a mistake.”
PROBABLY NOT
There is public FEDERAL debt. There is also state and local, provincial, etc. Huge for China, for example.
Then there is corporate debt. Float bonds to buy back shares. Etc.
Then there is corporate financial debt. “Banking IOUs” Derivatives etc. Usually omitted from these charts.
Then there is household debt. Mortgages, credit cards etc.
Which ones do you mean? SPELL IT OUT!
Total debt is 4x income, roughly. Suggesting all kinds.
