Hard to believe they are saying this — The CDC has officially found that the flu vaccine was NOT very effective this season
“The vaccine had one of the WORST effectiveness rates in more than a DECADE — only working about 25% of the time.”

WOW….25% HA
I went to the doctor friday for a minor issue
He got into vaccines
At my age it is strongly recommended to get the Pneumonia and RSV vaccines
He was relentless so I thanked him for the advice and asked how effective they were this year
He didn’t answer directly….just implied better than nothing…HA
I can relate, FGC. I had a “meet and greet” phone interview a week ago with a prospective physician from Vancouver. Me being me, of course I refused recommendations “because of my age” for RSV, shingles, Covid and flu vaxes. To which the reply was “well BC health recommends…..”
Interestingly, the same thing happened when I declined routine tests. My philosophy is that if you are not willing to do the treatment that might be the result of having taken such a test, then there’s no point taking the test. Case in point: I am not willing to take bisphosphonates. So there’s no point doing a bone density test. Nor am I willing to take statin drugs. So I declined her recommendation to further pursue my high cholesterol levels. Her answer was always “well BC health recommends….”
I also told her that, the day health authorities decide that squashing men’s testicles between 2 plates of glass and zapping them with radiation is a good idea, that’s the day I’ll consider a mammogram. She was not impressed with my answer but I thought it was a good one.
(with no disrespect intended to those who have loved ones who benefitted from this technology)
Dammit, what’s with these new grads? They can’t think for themselves? It’s always “well the government recommends” 🙁
How about counselling people to eat right, exercise etc? No, everything is based on what the government has published.
I left the interview with a persistent vague sense of unease, but felt I had no choice but to see this doctor, as ours here at Sun Peaks had left 5 months ago and it’s near impossible to get a doctor anywhere in this shithole NDP province. Synchronicity intervened however, and within days of that phone call my former doctor, whom I really liked, made an announcement that she would return and re-open. Of course there’s a huge backlog, as pretty much every resident of this town wants appointments, But…I’ll wait for her and drop the new grad in Vancouver before we’ve even met in person.
