Tennessee Makes Sanctuary City Votes a Felony — 6 Years Prison for Officials Who Support Illegals
Tennessee just passed SB 6002/HB 6001, making it a Class E felony for any local official to vote in favor of sanctuary city policies. That means mayors, council members, or school board officials can face up to 6 years in prison, a $3,000 fine, and removal from office for trying to shield illegal aliens. Democrats tried to kill the felony clause — and FAILED. This bold move needs to go nationwide.
“making it a Class E felony for any local official to vote in favor of sanctuary city policies.”
That’s going to be ruled unconstitutional.
Violates free speech, at least.
Better approach would be to make it a felony to IMPLEMENT local policies in conflict with federal policy.
And that would still run afoul of States Rights if not done carefully.
