I dunno…If this is true …but You would think the Price of Oil would be the first Signal

Interesting comment about oil being where one would think to look for a tell. Here is the problem with looking for tells whether it be oil, gold or anything else. Good tells usually reflect bets by the “smart money”(correct more often than not). I don’t believe the smart money would make any bet expecting a nuclear war because they know there isn’t going to be a payoff. The world would most likely be totally destroyed so why would you waste capital on that bet? Some far off places might not be wiped out but that isn’t going to be reflected in any financial market that one would be taking a position in. If anyone placing bets on an unexpected outcome it would be gold, oil, stocks (up or down) because while we may or may not get a war, it wouldn’t be nuclear. Not a prediction either way, but why bother on taking a position in something if there isn’t going to be a payoff, even if you were correct?
More often than not, when the herd is expecting something, it never happens.
But what do I know.
