Five years ago, as the world was coming to grips with the unprecedented election of former President Donald Trump, many took comfort in Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Canadians took pride — moral superiority even — in their policies embracing multilateralism abroad and pluralism at home.

I think it’s that magic 50% line in public sentiment. Now that the majority oppose covid, the authorities, and that includes the corporate media, are afraid. I can see now why authoritarian regimes are so big on compliance for apparently little things: it gives the impression that the majority are compliant and discourages the rebels. It also gives the authorities a boost in confidence. Chris Sky was right when he said the masks were just there to line everybody up and get them ready for injection. The little things can be highly symbolic.
