Bread we like has gone from $2.99 to $3.29 in the last 9 months. Just beginning. Does not sound like much, but a 10% increase on our food bill is gonna hurt us, for sure. Fixed income is a bitch way to live, let me tell you…
Make my own bread. Got a machine from thrift store years ago for 5.99.
From restaurant supply store, 25# bags of bread flour are $7 or less.
Have swedish dark rye recipe from an award winning Wisconsin bakery.
Might be 50c a loaf, tops.
There is a learning curve.
Mostly, chill one hour. Slice. Freeze with wax paper between slices.
Microwave briefly, and taste like fresh out of oven.
Corn too. Cornucopia!
