“On February 28 Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Oval Office with the stated intention of signing a minerals agreement with the United States. Famously that meeting blew up after an argument where JD Vance admonished Zelensky for not being grateful for the help and support that America had provided his country.
I now believe there was more to that day than was originally understood. I am going to map out a series of events leading up to this weekend’s crash in oil prices that in retrospect seem purposeful and coordinated. What was the purpose? It seems the goal was to create leverage on Russia and bring about a permanent peace.
This man is doing one big negotiation with the entire world all at once.

This is another one of these stories about the genius of Trump. Once again, he is playing 3d chess that is comprehensible only to he, and a few of his supporters. One question: Why would he not, if ending the war is so important to him that he would engage in a world wide complexity of arrangements, just end America’s support of it? The war will end when Trump puts his foot down, and tells both Ukraine and Europe it’s over. The fact that he hasn’t calls into question his motivation.
Exactly. Trump could have ended the war on his first day in office. He did not.
He doesn’t really care about anyone who cannot or will not vote for him. Not brown people, not Palestinians, not Russians, not Europeans, not Canadians, not Africans, (certainly not the Chinese) not anyone.
What he does care about are money and power. That and adoration.
It will be his downfall.
Unilateral actions are largely one and done.
He gets nothing further out of the move.
And others take the pain.
He wants THEM to negotiate for a lesser burden of pain, in exchange for a modulated delayed move.
There will be plenty of pain to go around, whether or not Trump does what he should have done months ago, and close the book on the historically disastrous policy of attempting to defeat Russia. NATO will be disbanded, as will the EU. Europe as a whole, and individually as countries, will face decades of economic dislocation having alienated itself from the one country essential to its prosperity. Russia has washed her hands of them!
China and Russia have solidified a partnership that will allow them, through the BRICS expansion, to become much more powerful economically and therefore militarily vis a vis the west. The U.S. will have to retrench to the western hemisphere, and even here they will face economic competition from BRICS countries. The unipolar world, and the New World order ended, with Russia commencing its SMO. The Americans continue to incompetently play geopolitical games as the earth moves under their feet.

This has been Putin’s position for as long as he has been Russia’s leader. He has been telling the west that a continental security arrangement is essential to peace in the region. American presidents – including Trump – refused to listen, arrogantly plodding forward with their plan to destroy Russia. Now they are listening because NATO got its ass handed to them by Russia’s military. Pretending that this is Trump’s plan is silly. Trump could have engaged with Russia in his first term. Instead he quadrupled the size of NATO’s proxy army in Ukraine, and bragged about arming them with sophisticated missiles. Putin has handled the aggressive west brilliantly. Trump is now doing his bidding, and will tell all that this is his policy, but not his war. He was right all along. Putin will be magnanimous in victory.
