Well this sucks.

I’m going to rant for a few moments and then move on in a positive way.

My three unvarnished thoughts on tonight:

1. Any MAGA voter who sat this out to “prove a point” to the GOP who now lives under Democrat rule deserves what they are about to experience.

2. Trump knew Iran could cost the midterms. But he did it anyway. Because he knows that the Iranian mullahs are theocratic madmen who are trying to build nuclear weapons so they can use them on the USA and Israel, precipitating Armageddon so the Hidden Imam will arise from a well in Qom and force what’s left of humanity to convert to Shia Islam. So Trump had to choose. Win the midterms or save humanity? He chose wisely. Historians will eventually acknowledge this reality.

3. The PRIMARIES are where you make RINOs pay, not the general. Geez.

So THAT’S all over and it’s on to 2028 to save America. Let’s put this behind us, pull together as patriotic conservative Americans, squash the squabbling, infighting and name calling, and get back to where we need to be.

Was it over when the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor?

No. No it was not.

I remember it well, I was in the wealth creation tax paying manufacturing sector since 1962. In the primaries he was approached and told they would finance his campaign if he took globalist Bush as a running mate.

So it was actually Bush running the country not Reagan. He got three four year terms. The jobs FLEW I mean REALLY flew out of this country after 1981 to 1989.

Reagan had some influences, but he had NOTHING to do with saving our birth of wealth manufacturing businesses. We got stuck and left with the sales and service wealth ABSORBING and tax absorbing jobs.

That’s why the country needs two household incomes to live instead of one, and why we have a $40 trillion national debt.

By the looks of the election, so far it looks like England Europe and Israel (the deep state) got what they wanted by starting that war (probably against Trumps wishes) before the election.

Just to screw up Trump. That might explain why Trump said he was cutting of the aid to Israel.

First, take a breath.

As a Republican supporter, I can understand why you’re stunned if the results came in much worse than you expected. One thing history teaches is that political environments can swing much more dramatically than people imagine in the moment. Reagan’s story is actually a very good example of that.

Reagan Timeline

1980 Reagan elected president, defeating Jimmy Carter. He won 44 states and 489 electoral votes.

1980 Congressional Republicans won control of the Senate for the first time in decades, but Democrats kept the House. Reagan never had a Republican House during either term.

1982 Midterms Republicans lost 26 House seats. Democrats strengthened their House majority. Republicans kept the Senate.

1984 Reagan won reelection in one of the biggest landslides in U.S. history, carrying 49 states. Only Minnesota and DC went Democratic.

1986 Midterms Republicans lost 8 Senate seats, and Democrats took back the Senate. Republicans also lost a few House seats.

1988 Reagan left office with high approval ratings, and his Vice President, George H. W. Bush, won the presidency.

The Key Thing Most People Forget

Reagan was not governing with a Republican House.

For virtually his entire presidency:

House = Democratic
Senate = Republican (1981-1986)
Senate = Democratic (1987-1988)

So even at the height of “Reagan Revolution” popularity, he was dealing with divided government.

Was 1982 Viewed As A Disaster?

At the time, many people thought Reagan’s presidency was in serious trouble.

The country was in a deep recession. Unemployment exceeded 10%. Republicans lost 26 House seats in the 1982 midterms.

Today people remember Reagan as nearly unbeatable, but in late 1982 there were plenty of commentators wondering whether he’d become a failed president.

Then:

Inflation collapsed
Economic growth surged
Reagan’s approval recovered
He won 49 states two years later.

How Bad Were His Second Midterms?

The 1986 midterms were genuinely rough:

Republicans lost control of the Senate.
Democrats gained 8 Senate seats.
Democrats held the House comfortably.

Yet Reagan still finished his term relatively popular and was succeeded by Bush in 1988.

The Historical Lesson
The biggest lesson from Reagan is that:

Midterm results are not always predictive of the next presidential election.

In Reagan’s case:

1982 looked bad.
1984 became a historic landslide.

1986 looked bad again.
1988 Republicans still won the White House.

So if you’re comparing today’s situation to Reagan’s era, the closest parallel is probably not 1984. It may actually be 1982, when many conservatives felt discouraged and thought the movement had stalled, only to see a dramatic reversal later.

And one correction to your memory: the 49-state landslide was in Reagan’s SECOND election (1984), not his first. In 1980 he won a huge victory, but it was “only” 44 states.

In a Monday letter, Sherrill urged operators to turn away tankers carrying Russian diesel and said the state would use its legal and regulatory powers to prevent the shipments from entering through New Jersey.

I’ve been skeptical of commercial real estate for years, and one of my central arguments has been relatively simple: much of the industry spent the better part of a decade operating under the assumption that artificially cheap money, ever-rising property valuations, and perpetually available financing were permanent features of the economic landscape.

And…fucking spoiler alert…they weren’t. In fact, just days ago, on October 29, I wrote a piece called The Commercial Real Estate Crisis Is Far From Over, arguing that the disappearance of commercial real estate from the financial headlines didn’t mean the losses had disappeared from the balance sheets.

I highlighted research from Trepp showing that 75% of Class A office loans in a sample of maturing commercial mortgage-backed securities would require additional equity to refinance, compared with 61% of Class B and C properties.

And now, just days later, we have another spectacular example of exactly what I’ve been talking about. According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, Brookfield, one of the largest real estate investment firms in the world, is walking away from a roughly $600 million luxury apartment tower in downtown Los Angeles, less than four years after the building opened.

In a zero rate environment, the building would likely be a success at this occupancy rate. But today…and just think about the absurdity of this…a nearly brand-new, 95%-occupied luxury residential skyscraper, developed at a reported cost of $600 million, has become a property its owner would rather abandon than refinance..

Ukraine has forced conscription. Essentially a radical forced draft where the government pays private contractors to locate Ukrainian men, drag them off the streets, put them into military training and force them to fight in the war. Inside Ukraine this process has become more and more aggressive as the population of available fighting-age males has declined.

…. When the headhunters capture the conscript, they turn the man over to the Ukrainian Azov Battalion who are responsible for getting the unwilling soldiers prepared to fight and die. Azov uses physical and psychological pressure to break the resistance of the conscript and get him trained for the front lines. You can easily imagine what horrors happen in this process until the conscript finally breaks and agrees to go fight.

It appears Ukrainian intelligence has attempted to do its own version of the Israeli pager bomb attacks that decimated many Hezbollah commanders in September 2024.

Russian authorities announced Monday the uncovering of a bizarre and twisted plot involving boobytrapped goggles for military drone operators.

“During an X-ray examination, explosives specialists established that Ukrainian special services had embedded improvised explosive devices into the first-person view goggles where cooling fans are normally placed,” the FSB said.

Per the official statement and claims, the explosives would have detonated the moment the goggles were turned on, resulting in immediate death or injury.

The DOJ sent letters to election officials in California and Washington requesting that they separate ballots cast by suspected noncitizens. The letters warned that officials who knowingly counted unlawful votes could face federal criminal liability.
