Pharmaceutical giant Bayer has launched legal action against leading COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers Pfizer, BioNTech, and Moderna, alleging the misuse of its messenger RNA (mRNA) technology. Filed in a Delaware federal court, the lawsuits claim the companies copied technology developed by Bayer’s subsidiary, Monsanto, in the 1980s.

This pioneering work, originally designed to strengthen mRNA in crops for stability, was allegedly applied to stabilise the genetic material within the COVID-19 vaccines.

Bayer, which was not involved in developing or selling COVID-19 vaccines, is seeking unspecified monetary damages, clarifying it is not aiming to halt manufacturing. The financial context is notable: Pfizer and BioNTech reported over $3.3 billion in revenue from global sales of their vaccine Comirnaty in 2024, while Moderna earned $3.2 billion from its Spikevax.

Multinational Force for Ukraine…would “monitor” ceasefire.

Tuesday’s major Ukraine summit of the so-called ‘coalition of the willing’ in Paris on Tuesday, where dozens of European leaders were hosted by President Emmanuel Macron, is still desperately trying to salvage strong security guarantees for Kiev as a central part of any future peace deal to end the war with Russia.

Macron vowed that Ukraine’s allies and military backers would “make concrete commitments” at the meeting “to protect Ukraine and ensure a just and lasting peace.” The Kremlin is going to see this as yet another exercise in flirting with Russia’s red lines – especially the idea of NATO ‘Article 5-style’ security guarantees.

Reportedly the United States has already agreed to lead a “ceasefire monitoring and verification mechanism” with European participation assuming a deal can be reached – based on a draft statement seen by the AFP. Washington is also said to b willing “support” a European-led multinational force, which would necessitate American boots on the ground “in case” of any new future attack by Russia post-truce deal.

BREAKING Despite Russia deploying a submarine to protect the tanker Bella 1 in the Atlantic Ocean, U.S. airborne forces began helicopter landings on the tanker minutes ago. An operation is currently underway to seize the tanker belonging to Russia’s shadow fleet.

“Donroe Doctrine” to clean up the Western Hemisphere was busy Wednesday morning, with the seizure of the Russian-flagged oil tanker Marinera (formerly Bella 1) in the North Atlantic, followed by U.S. forces seizing a stateless dark-fleet tanker in the Caribbean region.

The seizure of Marinera is the headliner this morning, given that Russian warships and a submarine are nearby, raising the risk that the situation could spiral out of control after Moscow warned the Trump administration in recent days to back off the tanker.
