Donald Trump has shown up the European Union. He’s revealed that the world’s largest single market is a paper tiger to be kicked around, with basically no leverage or strength to resist American demands.
All of these supposedly fierce backroom tariff negotiations have yielded an incredibly one-sided deal – really an unparalleled embarrassment.

Trump is just listening to his advisors, who are sharper than their predecessors.
The USA is the largest single consumer market in the world.
No country with an export sector can afford to walk away from that, given a choice.
The US is the global price setter, and to sell here, they have to meet the (landed wholesale) market price.
SO THEY MUST EAT THE TARIFFS to compete.
So they had better come prepared to accept WHATEVER DEAL IS OFFERED.
And Paul Krugman, of all people, was teaching the theory behind this kind of trading world back in the 1980s.
He was actually a star back then. Really.
Trump wants the entirety of Canada (for free) as 51st state – so he will most likely play hardball if there are any negotiations.
My speculation is no trade deal (other than the existing Canada/US/Mexico agreement) — tariffs will be 35-50% — Trump wants a WEAK neighbour to take advantage of in negotiations. If he can get away with raping/pillaging supposed allies like the EU (today’s announcement) than Canada should expect worse. Oh, yes Canada and US have been the best of friends and supported each other through thick & thin AND the rhetoric that Canada has been taking advantage of the US is a made up “crock of sheet” but that won’t matter if the economy nose dives!
This turmoil will leave Carney wide open to implement his preferred WEF/Chinese policies and move Canada further into the UN, WEF, China socialist policies (similar to the ongoing disasters of Europe)……..
Will Canadians face mass censorship, enhanced surveillance, CBDC’s, confiscation of assets (for the sake of the country of course), Social credit scores etc.

Trump cannot gain control unless he breaks the country and Canada comes begging for his help – he has 3 1/2 years remaining to make it happen. (imo -a military takeover would be too hard to explain by a PEACE president).
I really don’t think Canadians are prepared for what may be happening right now and definately not ready to hear about it from the tent!

I think you are over the target. Trump may be listening and doing what his advisors say, but his diatribe rant on green energy and windmills was right from the heart and intended to humiliate Ursula and directly attack her religion in front of the world as she sat there and took it. It was a message to Europe that with Eurcrats this stupid they need to start thinking about getting rid of them.
