Here’s our statement about Ghislaine’s Reply Brief that we filed in the Supreme Court today:
“No one is above the law—not even the Southern District of New York. Our government made a deal, and it must honor it. The United States cannot promise immunity with one hand in Florida and prosecute with the other in New York. President Trump built his legacy in part on the power of a deal—and surely he would agree that when the United States gives its word, it must stand by it. We are appealing not only to the Supreme Court but to the President himself to recognize how profoundly unjust it is to scapegoat Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein’s crimes, especially when the government promised she would not be prosecuted.”
I’d seen recently that the deal Epstein made shielded her and all his co-conspirators from prosecution. If true she should get off. It doesn’t make sense why the govt. agreed to that(if true)
different jurisdictions
Supposedly the Federal deal should overide any state (or other regional federal) jurisdiction. Otherwise what good is any deal? It is useless and no-one would ever give testimony on anything if the govt. can just pull a bait a switch and say that deal was with such and such but we don’t recognize it. May have to go to Supremes where I can’t believe something like this never happened before where it already would have been brought before them?
