Workers said that dozens have been infected, thousands have been relocated for quarantine, and several construction sites are locked down…

State-controlled Chinese media outlet The Beijing News reported on Oct. 31 that a dengue fever outbreak recently hit construction sites in Sanya, the famous tourist site located on the southern tip of Hainan island. According to the report, some of the workers have been relocated to local hotels or residential complexes for quarantine and testing – a move that has sparked discontent among residents who were not informed beforehand.

AND

Dengue fever is an infection transmitted through the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes, especially Aedes aegypti. It is common in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, including Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and parts of the U.S.

There are four dengue virus types (DENV?1 to DENV?4). Infection with one type provides lifelong immunity to that type but only short?term immunity to others, increasing the risk of severe dengue upon reinfection.
