POSTING INFORMATION

Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal broke its latest scandal story, modestly headlined, “Graham Platner’s Wife Flagged Sexually Explicit Texts to His Senate Campaign.” The subheadline added, “The wife of the Maine Democratic Senate candidate last year told the campaign about texts she had found between Platner and other women.” They’d been married only a year. His wife claimed the Senate candidate had been sexting a dozen women; the campaign said it was “only” a half dozen. As bad as that sounds, the Democrats’ polycrisis rapidly got much, much worse.
image.png
One month ago, on April 30th, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand —chair of the Democrats’ Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC)— officially endorsed political newcomer Graham Platner, 41, in a joint statement with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer: “After years of allowing Trump’s abuses of power, Senator Collins has never been more vulnerable, and we will work with the presumptive Democratic nominee Graham Platner to defeat her.”
By endorsing first-time candidate Platner, Democrats threw Janet Mills —who was running for the seat while still a sitting governor— right under the bus, and Mills immediately dropped out of the race. Maine Democrats complained that the DSCC never put real money behind Platner, a fact we’ll return to shortly.
As yesterday’s sexting scandal matured into full bloom, Platner deployed his own wife to defend him in one of the most cringe-inducing hostage videos we’ve seen in years. More on that one, too.
Meanwhile, Maine’s incumbent Senator, Republican Susan Collins, 73, has appeared on Maine’s ballots five times (1996, 2002, 2008, 2014, 2020). Democrats have spent $100M+ trying to beat her over those cycles. They failed every single time.
The 2020 contest —the famous Sara Gideon race— saw Collins outperform polling by 10 points and win by 9 points after Democrats poured $78M into one of the most expensive Senate races in U.S. history. Susan Collins is the Charlie Brown football of Senate races: Democrats keep running at her, she keeps yanking it away, and they keep landing on their backs.
Consider the possibility that the Dems never actually expected Platner to win. He is a science experiment. Democrats are trying to repair one of their biggest defects: they lost 2024 in significant part because they lost working-class men by margins not seen since Reagan. They were field testing their new “relatable, blue-collar, crypto-socialist white guy” formula.
Even if Platner loses to Collins in November —which, to be fair, they probably expect— the DNC still gets a live-fire test of the populist-white-male-Dem template. What ads worked? What didn’t? Where did he overperform Biden 2024? Where did he underperform? Which messages moved working-class voters? That data is worth tens of millions to whoever runs in 2028 against Vance, Rubio, or whoever else.
But they went too fast. “Platner is a political novice,” the Journal reported. “Some in the party fear they have attached themselves to a candidate who didn’t undergo thorough vetting and could undermine their hopes for the midterm elections in November.”
They were sloppy and careless. And now the whole thing is blowing up in their faces.

? Before we get to what future historians will probably call the Great 2026 Graham Platner Catastrophe, let’s glance at the practical politics. Democrats are pretty much stuck with the sexting, nazi-tattooed, pedo-platforming, infidelity-tolerating oyster farmer. Or at least, they are confronted by a short list of all-bad options.
They are stuck. Inconveniently, Maine’s Democrat primary is in only nine days. Ballots have already been printed. Early voting starts anytime. The ballot includes only two names for the Senate seat: Uber-gruppen-oysterfuhrer Graham Platner and David Costello, a former USAID worker who’s never polled above 10%. Even if Platner drops out, Costello would be an even bigger political zero who’d have to run against popular incumbent Susan Collins (R).
They could play one wild card. If Platner wins and then voluntarily agrees to drop out, the rules let Maine’s Dem Party nominate his replacement. So, conceivably, they could slide Janet Mills, 78, back in. But it’s not exactly a terrific option.
First, it requires Graham to remain in the race for at least two more weeks —and probably more like ten weeks— which is time that it increasingly looks like Democrats don’t have. Then their replacement candidate would only have 60 days to build a campaign from scratch.
Second, it would be a clever move, but they already deployed this same scheme in the 2024 presidential race. So, they’d be again “picking” a nominee voters didn’t select— meaning, more anti-democratic games from the so-called “Democratic” party. It would be the Biden-Harris shuffle all over, and Republicans would have a field day.
So, unless I’m missing something, there are no good options.

? Although corporate media hasn’t had the courage to say it yet, it’s hard to conceive of any scenario where Platner possibly survives as a viable candidate. The scandal worsens almost by the minute. There may never have been a major Senate candidate who shattered this spectacularly.
It all started with yesterday’s WSJ exposé.
? Here’s the short version. Amy and Graham married in 2023. Both were first-timers. Nine months later, Graham launched his Senate campaign. In Spring, 2025, Amy found sexting messages on Graham’s devices. Presumably furious, she sent the messages to Graham’s campaign team responding to their “potential problems” survey. The campaign concluded it was a “personal matter.” But a staffer leaked it. Later, Graham’s campaign manager rage-quit.
At the time, Amy said he was sexting “a dozen” women; but the campaign gently corrected her: “it was more like six.” Six? Even if true, is six better than twelve? That is the worst spin imaginable. It’s like defending yourself from being accused of being a monstrous serial killer by saying you only strangled a few hookers.
The leaked messages make Graham look pathetic. Here’s one example that has been making the rounds:
The Journal’s article provided a complete explanation— from Graham himself. In 2019, he bragged on social media about his flexible moral compass when it comes to adultery:
That’s already pretty horrible. But it got much worse. He might’ve survived the infidelity angle, even though it was recent. Clinton did. But then the Journal smothered his political chances, for good, with a giant pillow.
The article reported that, until recently, Platner had a ten-year-old hookup account on Kik— a gross, anonymous, “friends with benefits” platform the FBI says is infested with pedophiles and groomers.
His username is (still) “phustle0331.” The bio-pic is awful:
The “0331” figure is a Marine code for infantry gunners, which Platner was. I don’t know about “phustle,” but I have my suspicions about what the ‘p’ stands for. Hint: It refers to a female body part and used to be on Code Pink hats. Anyway, he uses variations of that username for his other social media accounts. It’s vulgar, middle-school bro-talk.
But we needn’t speculate whether that is his photo. The WSJ asked the campaign. The campaign confirmed it was his Kik account. It was another non-excuse excuse. “Platner’s campaign said the candidate had long deleted the app from his phone,” the article explained, “but hadn’t deactivated his account.” Whoopsies.
? Kik is not Tinder. Tinder is a dating app for adults that requires phone verification, charges money, and shows up on credit-card statements. Kik is a free, anonymous, unmoderated messaging service that requires no phone number, no email verification, no real name, and no age check beyond a self-reported birthday that a child can lie about in three seconds. Laredo Morning Times, 2022:
image 8.png
Once you have a Kik account, you can send and receive photos, videos, and direct messages with any stranger on the platform, in encrypted threads the company itself says it cannot read. There is a reason federal prosecutors have spent the last decade calling Kik a “predator’s paradise,” and why the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged it in more child-exploitation tipline reports than any other app of its size: the entire design of the service is optimized for adults to anonymously meet strangers —including minors— and exchange private content the platform cannot police.
In 2017, the FBI’s Cyber Division issued formal advisories specifically warning parents about Kik. In 2019, the company nearly shut down the service due to legal liability concerns. The British National Crime Agency named Kik in the investigations of multiple child homicides. The U.S. Department of Justice has cited Kik by name in hundreds of federal indictments for some of the worst child sexual abuse material, child enticement, and sextortion.
None of that is true of Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, Match, or any other mainstream dating app, because none of those apps is designed the way Kik is. A 41-year-old United States Senate candidate maintaining an active, profile-picture-displayed account on Kik in 2026 is not, in any sense, equivalent to a man who has a dating app on his phone.
It is a man who chose the one consumer messaging platform in America whose name appears in the Department of Justice’s child-exploitation case files more often than any other— and stayed there for nearly a decade.
It’s gross and bad.
? Yesterday at 7:44 pm, Platner responded to the burgeoning crisis. He posted a tragic, Helskini-syndrome-style video from his own wife, Amy. It was one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen.
image 4.png
CLIP: Amy Platner says she is angry at her husband’s critics, but her eyes seem profoundly sad (4:58).
“Marriage is hard,” Amy said, not yet three years married. While swatting away blackflies —a painful metaphor— she complained about critics making her marriage into an issue while the nation suffers from an affordability crisis. She said she had recorded the selfie video twenty times in a row, trying to get it just right.
One’s heart breaks.
But— my goodness. What she revealed. Amy told voters that the couple has fertility problems and at least four mental health counselors. One marriage counselor for them both, a personal therapist for each of them, and a long-time PTSD shrink for Graham. “We work on our mental health every day,” she confided.
A man with four psychologists and a marriage in crisis sounds like a perfect candidate for the US Senate, no? For Democrats, anyway.
image 9.png
? So that’s the setup. Remember that Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and the entire progressive infrastructure shoved Janet Mills — the sitting governor of Maine — out of the race to clear the lane for a guy with:
A Nazi-symbol tattoo (covered up, post-hoc)
Racist/sexist/homophobic posts (blamed on PTSD)
A self-published “flexible moral compass” on infidelity (2019)
Sexually explicit texts to multiple women during marriage (2023–24)
A wife who told the campaign about it (2025)
A campaign staffer who leaked the disclosure (2026)
A hostage video with four therapists in the footnotes (yesterday)
Behold the Democrats’ Bench. After Biden and Harris, the deep bench produced… a former bartender-turned-oyster farmer with a Nazi tattoo, racist posts, a PTSD excuse, a serial-sexting habit confirmed by his own wife, and a four-therapist newlywed marriage.
Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders was just in Maine hosting rallies for him not five days ago.
This isn’t just a personnel problem. It is a vetting system collapse. It might first suggest that the Democrats made a frantic decision too late, to switch over to the white-guy strategy without time to properly research the candidates.
But maybe it’s evidence of a bigger problem. Maybe the only viable white guys left in the party are psychopaths like Platner.
? According to most analysts, Democrats have a limited number of potential pickups in the Senate this cycle. Maine is one of four seats that Cook Report identified as a “toss-up” for a possible flip. Others have called it Democrats’ best hope for an add, the easiest conversion.
I’ll call it: Maine is gone. Bad enough, but it’s just one slice of the growing polycrisis.
Republicans enjoy two potential pickups: Georgia and Michigan, where Democrats also have developing scandal problems— their Muslim candidate Abdul El-Sayed is down three points against his Republican challenger. It’s starting in Texas, too, where James Talarico is beginning to melt like a 7-Eleven slushy in the heat of Ken Paxton’s fire.
image 10.png
Abdul didn’t even win the gubernatorial primary. He is a long shot.
The Democrats aren’t just losing Maine. They are losing all hope for the Senate. And they are losing it because every plausible pickup on the map is being run by someone the party can’t vet, defend, or replace. The bench has collapsed.
In 2010, the Tea Party midterms deleted 1,000 state legislative Democrat seats nationwide in a single cycle. That shredded the Democrats’ normal training ground where state legislators sharpen their claws for national offices.
They thought they could paper over that problem. The pre-2024 assumption was that, even if they were thin in state-bench terms, the Democrats still had a deep stock of House members in working-class districts who could be promoted to Senate runs.
Then November 2024 happened. A meaningful chunk of blue House districts realigned Republican. That, and young men fled the Democrats in historic numbers. The pipeline got even thinner. Especially the pipeline of straight, white males.
That’s the bitter irony hiding inside the Maine story. Graham Platner is exactly the demographic the Democrats most desperately needed to recruit in 2026: a straight white working-class male combat veteran. He’s the only candidate in the entire 2026 Senate cycle who fits that profile.
And he’s a total newbie. He is not a state legislator, not a House member, not a former officeholder of any kind. He is an oyster farmer. A man with no political experience, no vetting infrastructure, no record of having governed anything beyond a small aquaculture operation. The Democrat Party didn’t recruit him through the normal pipeline.
The pipeline didn’t have him.
Bernie Sanders found Platner on a viral TikTok and elevated him directly to the Senate nominee level. It was a calculated risk. But it turned out to be an unavoidable blunder.
image 11.png
? Corporate media knows this, but won’t say it out loud, because it admits a much bigger problem than the Maine race. The Democrat Party’s institutional pipeline for producing viable candidates —the state legislators who become statewide candidates who become national nominees— has been hollowing out since the 2010 wipeout, and 2026 is the cycle where the empty drawer finally became visible.
Just look at Democrats’ four winnable Senate races. In Maine, Plan A was Janet Mills, a two-term sitting governor— and the DSCC pulled her funding because their own polling said she couldn’t win. The bench in Maine was 78-year-old Janet Mills. There was no Plan B that wasn’t Graham Platner.
In Michigan, Plan A was Gary Peters— who chose to retire. There was no statewide Michigan Democrat with the name recognition, fundraising base, or political ambition to step up. So the front-runner became Abdul El-Sayed, who already lost a Democratic gubernatorial primary in 2018.
In Texas, Plan A was supposed to be one of three already-defeated statewide Democrats. None of them agreed to run again. So the nominee became James Talarico, a state representative from Austin and “evangelical minister” who in 2021 called God “non-binary.”
image 12.png
In North Carolina, Democrats’ Plan A was named publicly: Roy Cooper, outgoing two-term governor. But Cooper declined. There was no Plan B, so the seat is effectively washed off the 2026 map. Buh bye.
? Four winnable Senate races. Four Plan As who either declined or were abandoned by their own party. Four Plan Bs who range from “structurally non-viable” to “actively imploding” to “Graham Platner.” That isn’t just a vetting failure.
Chuck “Hamburglar” Schumer’s Senate Campaign operation is competent enough to recognize this catastrophe. It can only be that he had no other choice than to bet on a deeply flawed candidate like Graham Platner. It reflects a deep structural failure— a fifteen-year supply-chain collapse in the Democratic candidate pipeline, which 2026 is the first cycle to expose at this scale.
It can only get worse. The Democrats are not losing the Senate this November because they made one bad call in Maine. They are losing the Senate this November because they lack a Senate-quality candidate left in any state where the seat is actually competitive.
Amy Platner on a dirt road in Sullivan, Maine, swatting at black flies, on her twentieth take, defending the indefensible— that isn’t the story of one new wife whose clock is ticking and one rotten PTSD-inflicted husband.
Amy Platner is the visible surface of a much larger institutional collapse, the first public confession that the Democratic bench is empty, and the party knows it. And judging by the Republicans’ rapid response this weekend, they are taking full advantage.
The corporate media polls are wrong. We are winning. Stand by; I have a feeling the Democrat meltdown is only getting started. Do you sense it, too?
Childers continues to impress daily — another excellent analysis!
