Drastic times call for drastic measures.
At what point does the corruption become so vast and entrenched, that we have to impose martial law and let the Military handle this quickly via tribunals?
I think we all need to recognize that we are living through the 2nd American Civil War, and it might require some Lincoln-era governance to resolve this situation.
During the 1st Civil War, Lincoln imposed martial law and suspended the writ of habeus corpus many times, without Congressional approval, and essentially told Congress and the Supreme Court to fuck off, and he did what he needed to do in order to save the Republic from the ongoing rebellion.
Lincoln is widely considered as the greatest and most consequential President in American history. Scholars consider him greater than Washington.
There are quite a lot of similarities between now and the Civil War.
Trump faces many of the same obstacles that Lincoln faced.
The Democrats have gone crazy, they are engaged in open rebellion, and they want to enslave people… AGAIN!
History repeats.
CLANDESTINE
“Scholars consider him greater than Washington.”
Well, that’s liberal academia for you. He was the first to seriously disable the checks and balances that the Founders had put into place.
Others will certainly have a far more in depth assessment, but in short, he broke the back of the Federal (Confederated) Union of States, and replaced it with a Central government. Wilson did more, and then FDR put icing on the Socialist cake.
My SUPERFICIAL reading of civil war (pre) history is that the slavery driven story we’ve been told (sold), was a far cry from reality, and that other options were available to resolve that dispute. It was largely about three way trade involving cotton, the New England textile mills, and Britain. There is the woke era mainstream view (with holes in that story everywhere), and I’ve seen more coherent views from the contrarians.
But your point is well taken, that ACTION oriented STATIST Presidents with Chutzpah will be revered.
While Ron Paul with his minimalism will be just a footnote. Maybe.
I ONLY HAVE ONE POINT PEDRO
THE INSURECTION ACT IS COMING AND FUCK ALL THE TWISTED INTERPRETATIONS OF WHATEVER YOU OR ANYONE ELSE THINKS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF CENTURIES AGO. IT IS ALL IRRELIVENT TO THE NOW
RIGHT NOW THE REPUBLIC IS TEEMING WITH INSURRECTIONISTS
IF YOU HAVE A BETTER SOLUTION DO TELL
I’m saying two things, as I have been.
The military solution (at least from the judicial angle) is the only answer, yes.
Troops in the blue cities? I have no idea if that would really help. It might galvanize Dems this fall.
But using Lincoln’s supposed “stature” (among liberal elites) as grounds for condoning what Trump likely will do, is bogus.
IMO, Lincoln was quite possibly the one who started us down the road (of de Federalism) where Ben’s warning of “a democracy if you can keep it” began to be ignored.
An American union of Sovereign States, without a strong central government, (as we had pre 1861) would not have been able to Borrow Its way to Prosperity like we’ve done. States can’t legally run deficits. The frauds, and the incentives to pursue them, would never have been possible on this scale. AND … wait until the microscope turns to the Pentagon. Where it also belongs.
“wait until the microscope turns to the Pentagon. Where it also belongs.” — Remember the missing $27Trillion that was uncovered by Catherine Austin Fitts and Skidmore — the DOD “lost those funds” and could not explain how they went missing — so Congress passes as special act that absolved the DND from keeping accurate accounting records and authorized multiple sets of financial records.
Just a month ago the DoD AGAIN did not pass it’s annual financial audit — they apparently have only limited information on their expenditures — they haven’t passed for a very long time (I think it was over a decade).
Dead on, my friend. Dead on!
