France Grants Asylum Eligibility to All Gaza Palestinians Amid Controversy and National Debate

In a landmark ruling that could reshape France’s refugee policy, the National Court of Asylum (CNDA) announced on Friday that all Palestinians residing in the Gaza Strip will now be eligible to apply for asylum in France.

The unprecedented decision stems from the court’s recognition of the Israeli Defense Forces’ (IDF) military operations in Gaza as severe enough to constitute “methods of persecution” under international law.

The ruling was handed down after the court reviewed the case of a Palestinian woman who sought asylum following the October 7th Hamas-led terror attacks on Israel and the subsequent Israeli military response.

“France is already grappling with explosive community tensions,” Ayari said in a statement. “And yet it chooses now to unconditionally welcome refugees from Gaza—despite the fact that more than 30 Muslim-majority countries have outright refused to do the same.”
