BREAKING: President-elect Donald Trump announces expedited “approvals and permits” for any company investing $1 billion or more in the U.S.
The favorable treatment will also apply to “environmental approvals,” Trump said
TRUMP: “Get ready to rock!”
Small businesses, get to the back of the line!
GDP: 43.5% of the gross domestic product (GDP)
Employment: Almost half (46%) of the private sector workforce
Net job creation: 55% of the total net job creation from 2013 to 2023
Exports: 97.3% of all exporters and 32.6% of known export value
It is the Small Business that creates jobs and innovation. It should be those who need that extra help to expand. This is a gift to the Bigs.
The large multi-national companies have the advantage already. Many Small Businesses are shoved out due to regulations and of course the huge economy of scale the conglomerates have.
I don’t even know how you would implement such a policy. It’s almost certainly illegal for government departments to discriminate based on the size of your wallet, so to speak. It’s also politically dumb because we all love small businesses, and there are far more of them than there are behemoths. I imagine he hasn’t thought it through, or he’s blowing smoke.
Trump is always playing small ball. He attacks one trade partner at a time – individually, and in a personal manner, or he speaks of special enterprise zones in minority communities, or no taxes on server’s tips etc…To revamp the economy he needs to sell broad based policies that create an environment for growth across the board.
Bringing back jobs is job 1
This is a winner IMO
It’s not a stand alone policy but a good start
When there are more good jobs ..Small businesses Thrive too
Small business creates the most jobs. The figure above is fifty five percent. Add in the enormous job creation of the government, and you’re left with maybe a third of the jobs created by big biz.A lot of those jobs are low skill, low wage jobs. Think Madonalds, Wall Mart, Costco, Amazon and many other highly profitable, low wage firms that tried to put small enterprises out of business during the covid calamity. Many of them buy most of the goods they sell from China, and other low wage countries.
Evening the playing field means helping small business, and removing big business influence from government. Big business looks out for themselves. Trump doesn’t need to do it.
