Calling Godballoon…Is this a fair representation of what’s happening in your town ?

Bend makes a fine choice for the western summer.
Dry, sunny and on the cool side, with chippy nights throughout.
By early to mid Sept, they will have motored on, back to Cali and wherever its allowed.
By January, they will be in Quartzite AZ, dry docked in the desert.
Not true. For the most part, what you see in the video are year-round people, a step above homeless, but not a big step. The town has been trying (not hard enough) to figure out how best to deal with the growing number of semi-permanent campers. This street is sort of the upscale part of the homeless community. There are huge encampments outside of town, in the National Forest.
BTW, Bend can be cooking hot in the summer. The weather is generally extremely variable, hitting all the extremes, oftentimes in the same day!
Because I’m out of the area so much, I don’t keep up-to-date on Bend issues very well. The homeless situation is something I’m only vaguely familiar with. Because of the posting of the video showing the Hunnel Road camp in Bend, I did a little digging and found some things that might be of interest, all linked below.
First of all, the roadside camps shown in the video were supposedly removed last year. From what I understand, most of the people were relocated to Forest Service land outside of town. This would make it much more expensive and difficult for them to get into Bend, whether for food or a job. I have never driven anywhere ear these camps and don’t plan to. Bend is a place designed for wealthy people. Homelessness is just “something to be dealt with”, at least to be kept out of site. For anyone interested in knowing more about this issue in Central Oregon, here are a few links that tell of the challenges:
