FAMILY FUED

I may have spoken a little too soon yesterday when I commented that there was no way to know why DeSantis wasn’t attending today’s Trump rally in South Florida.
Yesterday afternoon, Trump publicly went after Florida’s favorite governor, sarcastically nicknaming him “DeSanctimonious” at a Pennsylvania rally.

Reports suggest President Trump is upset at widespread rumors that DeSantis has been meeting with Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan, and Mitch McConnell, to hear how great DeSantis is and how he should definitely run for president, and to talk about how best to edge Trump out of the 2024 race.
My goodness. Talk about a laundry list of things we don’t need.
We don’t need Trump and DeSantis going to war with each other.
We don’t need DeSantis meeting with Team McConnell.
And we don’t need the GOP machine scheming about how to politically wound Trump so he either won’t run or would lose the primary.
The Hill ran a story yesterday on the dustup, headlined “Trump jabs at DeSantis during rally: ‘Ron DeSanctimonious’.” The Hill cited a Politico report saying that DeSantis ‘wasn’t invited’ to the Trump rally in South Florida today, so now we know.
But, despite the battle of the t-rexes shaping up in Republican politics, democrats are scraping the bottom.
Sundance continues to emphasize that RDS is drawing wealthy donors and supports the GOPe, rather than the MAGA agenda.
That’s a big deal and that question is at the heart of the division. It also likely underscores what Megyn Kelly thinks she sees in her background research with voters on this looming issue. She sees the base as decidedly in Trump’s camp. The Beltway is behind RDS. The Beltway is the Uniparty. Folks that will play ball and preserve the Skim.
WE WILL HAVE TO SEE WHO DESANTIS ALIGNS WITH HERE GOING FORWARD
JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE COURTING HIM DOES NOT MEAN HE WILL MARRY THEM
HE IS IN HIS RIGHTS TO EXPLORE ALL OPTIONS
AS FAR AS I CAN SEE HE IS MUCH MORE MAGA IN HIS IDIOLOGY THAN RHINO
THE MCCONNELS FEEL THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO CONTROL HIM OBVIOUSLY WHILE THEY HAVE NO CHANCE WITH TRUMP
(Ken Griffin) wants to improve the diversity of the GOP and blunt the vein of populism that has complicated the party’s relationship with the corporate world — two things he’s consulted with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy about. (read more)
(1) Stop the populist movement and (2) get the republican party back in alignment with the multinational “corporate world.”

If true, dumb move by DeSantis. He can’t beat Trump, but if he tries he will lose MAGA support for ’28. It’s a lose/lose! Remember the two dozen or so that took on Trump in the primaries? They have either disappeared or have become, at least in public, Trump allies. I’m not a big Trump fan, but it’s more than clear that he has the trust of the broad base of the Republican Party. Anyone who doesn’t see that is too deluded to take on the swamp, or has no intention of doing so.
You are getting way ahead of yourselves. Yes, Trump is still the likely GOP candidate in 2024. A lot can happen and I for one am glad the GOP has a very strong back-up in case something happens and Trump isn’t available. There is still a lot we don’t know about DeSantis but Trump is making a mistake attacking him at this point when he hasn’t yet said he was going to challenge Trump. Trump showing one of his faults, insecurity.
+1
“at this point when he hasn’t yet said he was going to challenge Trump.”
RDS has certainly said he was, but you have to follow a trail of subtle markers most of which aren’t placed in any kind of spotlight. Sundance is an elite level master of this, and I follow his remarks and those details closely.
“Trump showing one of his faults, insecurity.”
Most Certainly.
Robert Barnes says there’s nothing to it. He’s usually right.
