Update to Boomer (LCEC foot dragging on power restoration after Ian)
Sundance: This is why there is almost ZERO effort to restore power in Cape Coral, Pine Island and North Fort Myers

Sometimes I question seriously information from – or a particular position – what I would like to think of as “reliable.”
These folks who right such things have no idea the amount and breadth of devastation this storm wrought. Pine Island is effectively destroyed. Ditto north Fort Myers. Getting workers in there, with proper equipment and manpower is a daunting task. A small utility company is ill prepared to handle such overwhelming work.
Good on Desantis – our state hero, BTW – for taking action to dispatch appropriate help and resources. The article posted smacks of a made-up concocted story, by someone with a bent against power companies and utilities in general. I am no fan of FPL which will indeed get the power back on Pine Island, faster than expected I might add, because of their insane expansion of solar power at the expense of building or expanding real power plants. But I thank my lucky stars and the God who keeps this globe twirling for their workers and the resources they have brought to bear and orchestrated to bring power back faster than anyone expected or deserved. They are a collection of angels from God as far as I am concerned.
And to beat up on a utility that has limited resources and capabilities with such a hit piece is in my feeble mind shameful. There is no doubt in my mind that the linemen from that company have worked beyond exhaustion to bring power to Pine Island and North Fort Myers.
Good Critical Thinking Boomer
I agree
This is a veiled Anti Desantis Piece actually
Sundance is a HUGE Trumpophile to the exclusion of any ” Competition” …thats how it looks to me
Most of the comments at the original post are not from locals.
But there is a “follow the money” theme.
One apparent local commented that he/she thought the nudge from the column was enough to get LCEC to formally request assistance from FPL and others (which they hadn’t done to that point), and within 24hrs, half of Cape Coral had power again.
So there’s that.
