Had a nice chat with a young Russian couple who have been in Canada for 5 years
At the dog park. They have a cute Irish Setter pup.
I told them they had a great accent. Where are you from? That opened the conversation. First thing they said was “We are Russian and Stand with Ukraine”. From that point I just listened and asked questions since I don’t have first hand knowledge of either country. Fascinating take on the conflict. They had a bad experience in Russia. Fair enough.
They left Russia as they hated the Dictator Putin with a passion. They love Zelensky as he is a young progressive Democratic Leader. Apparently Putin is a fascist. Putin hates LGBTQ and persecutes them. Putin is note woke. Zelensky brought freedom to Ukraine. Apparently Putin is looking to recreate the old Russian empire. The Russ peoples were at one time centred in Kiev.
I asked if he trusts the Media. “Absolutely!” No comment from me. He knew Russia was winning the war but they are evil! Using military reserves from far-flung regions. Not using regular Russian forces. So I understand where North is coming from. We all have different experiences and we should listen to them respectfully.
I’m just repeating what they said. I wasn’t taking sides. Just listening.
Somehow it came up about the shots. They’ve had three. Covid twice after the shots. “The shots work!” What could I say? He was singing the praises of the new mRNA technology. Obviously he has done a lot of research and believes in them. Different metrics of measuring success, obviously. “Mostly unvaccinated in the Hospital”. Hmmmmm…..he hasn’t read the BC CDC reports. I honoured my policy of not arguing with Branch members. It’s a lost cause. I just smiled and let them talk.
The conversation of what to feed a puppy came up. He thought our dog was a puppy. He’s active but now has a bit of grey around the ears. He’s 11 and a half yo. He was told by the breeder that his dog has a lifespan of around 10 years. Okay.
We discussed diet and vaccines for dogs. Told him I get his AB titre levels tested regularly but not annually. So far his levels have been protective. He’s only had his original series as a pup before we rescued him. Only Rabies shots twice and they were “low dose” and to obtain a certificate for crossing the US Border even though his titre was protective. So you can imagine what the “low dose” shot was 🙂
He’s going to read up about the titres. He even said the change to a non-kibble diet made sense.
I looked at them and asked why they would take any more shots as they appeared young and healthy, admit to taking supplements, don’t eat processed food and are outside as much as they could. We shook hands and parted on good terms. His parents are MDs. Maybe he will apply his newly researched knowledge for his puppy and continue on with the shots for himself. I care about animal welfare.
You are too kind Columbia
Covidiots…they believe EVERYTHING MSM Feeds them.
I have an opposite story
I had ( recently) a dental assistant from Russia
Charming Gal with a Charming Husband
Adventurers
They moved to the east coast and from there Back “Home”
She readily praised Putin for improving the lives of Russians and Protecting the Motherland
They keep in touch
Not Vaxxed
Nice update Columbia!
Thank you, Columbia. Yes, we have different opinions which should be respected. I am unvaccinated and plan to stay that way. Way back in March 2020 I posted a video by Dr. Zelenko. I was so afraid of posting it here that I asked everyone to have an open mind when reading it. So most opinions about Vaccination, Covid, Trudeau, Biden, the CEF, etcetera I totally agree with and have posted my agreement here for the last two years. But I share the opinion of these Russian people you spoke with on Putin. He is a dictator, he has poisoned and put political opponents in prison. He has been guilty of mass murder in Ukraine. He is best friends with gruesome dictators in China and Iran. He has the nerve to say that he embraces democracy. This is a barefaced lie. Since he took power there has not been a fair election in Russia.
North, I have watched videos of propaganda defending each side. My take is that I’m not there and have no idea what’s going on. Alex M is a little over the top but I am not there to know. None of us are. We hear stuff but difficult to verify. I did ask if he thought The Turd was a dictator. “No’. To which I did say, he took many of my Charter Rights away. He just couldn’t see it that way. It didn’t press the issue as I wanted to introduce him to a healthy diet and health schedule for his lovely puppy. It’s up to him to decide.
Knowing that both sides of this conflict are not lilly white, I am hoping that Putin is countering The Great Reset. To me this is a battle of The Great Resetters (The West) vs the East. NATO recklessly expanded into the former Warsaw Pact Nations. Regime change is part of the State Dept MO. They knew what would eventually transpire. The West is using Ukraine to goad Russia into a never ending conflict to wear them down. Both sides, Ukraine and Russia eliminate opposition. Who is worse? How do I know?
Our opinions are based upon personal experiences fair enough. Obviously you have experienced this.
I know it’s selfish on my part to watch the destruction of Ukraine and the civilians in this conflict. They are the real losers.
I don’t even know if Putin is a WEF toadie who is going along with the destruction of the world to destroy and then Build Back Better with The Great Reset. The world is a complicated place.
“Yes, we have different opinions which should be respected.”
And that’s the bottom line.
I will say, that in situations like Columbia faced, I do NOT nod in feigned agreement or lend outward support to views I disagreed with. Nor would I challenge strangers with my own. But on parting at the end, I would let them know that I’m NOT in agreement on a good many things (without going into detail) but that I appreciated hearing from them. That lets people know conversations CAN BE HAD between people of differing opinions .. AND it lets them know that under different circumstances you would challenge their opinions. I.e., I wouldn’t give them a pass. Never know when that might start them THINKING.
I always leave them with “I trust my immune system and it seems you don’t trust yours but you trust Pfizer
Google Pfizer Fraud Convictions”
A good response Fully. It’s neutral.
Pedro, I agree in principle but the division that we have between Left and Right is working to degrade society. It’s better to find common ground where we can agree and go from there. I’m hoping he gives his puppy a nutritious diet. I care about animals. It’s not constructive for me to argue with someone who has decided on an issue.
A Centre person is a different case. They are open and are questioning. They are Centre for a reason. I never tell them they are stupid. I know the coercion they went through. I wouldn’t have wanted to be in their shoes.
From my personal experience, 90% of my friends have been Lefties to various degrees. I have learned to accept that we are all different. Most of my friends are hard core atheists. They are people too. It would have been a lonely world otherwise.
Now GMG would probably chime in with a different view 🙂
Ohhhhhh ya I sure do 🙂
I have lost tolerance for branchies. I am fed up with seeing them parade around with their useless virtue-signalling face rags. These people are fuelling government to be even more tyrannical.
I too hope he gives the poor dog a nutritious diet and cuts way back on the “scheduled” veterinary shots, as we have done with our little darling.
But I would have lost it when I heard the comments that:
-we should trust the media (BULLSHIT)
-the shots are wonderful (BULLSHIT)
-Turd is not a dictator (BULLSHIT)
And I could not have remained silent.
