Fully’s Comment
Interesting…. dentists are drilling and spraying blood and saliva all over the place all day long ….and at a time where there was no vaccine and in a population of high risk individuals there was ZERO transmission ! Shouldn’t an unvaccinated patient sitting unmasked for long periods of time and emitting gobs of spit everywhere during the height of the “pandemic” in a City with the highest rate of disease and death be an ultimate superspreader ?

Nope !

COVID-19 study: Transmission in dental offices

Because most dental procedures generate aerosol, dentists, dental hygienists and dental personnel were identified early in the SARS CoV-2 pandemic as high-risk occupations for contracting the disease.

This study, Incidence of COVID-19 Virus Transmission in Three Dental Offices: A 6-Month Retrospective Study, involved 2,810 patients who were treated in three different offices by two dentists and three hygienists during a six-month period occurring at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York city (March 15 to September 15, 2020). The study period occurred before there was any locally available COVID-19 vaccine.

The offices performed screening procedures, used enhanced infection control and had appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) available for all staff. Analysis of the data following completion of the study revealed:

Not one case of COVID-19 infection was transmitted to the dental personnel or to the patients.
Sixty-nine percent of the patients treated in these three offices presented with high-risk comorbidities for contracting COVID-19.
The authors concluded that careful screening, enhanced infection control and proper PPE were the three main factors responsible for achieving a zero transmission result.

The College recognizes the importance of research in this area and is working collaboratively with academic institutions. Our objective is to understand the totality of evidence and how it can inform decisions moving forward.

OK…so far so good…So my question is WHY this ?

In its revised vaccine statement, the College strongly recommends:

All dentists are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible unless medically exempted.
All dental practices have a workplace COVID-19 vaccination policy consistent with Directive #6 issued by Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health.

Does the Braintrust at the College think they can Improve upon ZERO transmission ?

NOBODY WAS VACCINATED…6 MONTHS OF DRILLING AND FLYING BLOOD AND SPIT…ZERO TRANSMISSION…AND YOU THINK A NEEDLE IN AN ARM WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE ?
