When I was a kid the price was .25/gallon for 104 octane, I needed high test for my 10.5 to 1 compression for my 1963 Pontiac Tempest, the Cousin Vinny movie car. I was getting 12 miles per gallon around town.

And I’m still getting 12 mpg with my ’89 chevy van, and my ’98 and ’01 GMC Jimmys. The insurance is $630/year for all three because they are all more than 25 years old. But anyway, adjusted for inflation gasoline SHOULD be $5/gallon.

Our nation needs to ban foreign cars or have tariffs of 100%-200%. If you think the imports are two or three times better than a US made car, then you should pay double or triple the price for an import. Artificially or mathematically cheaper higher quality was like cocaine in the beginning. But 50 60 years later it will hurt to break the habit.
