To the Americans: Dr Jordan B Peterson
To the Americans:
I’ve travelled all over the world. I’ve familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I’m a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States.
And here’s something I’ve noticed, and it’s a key element of America’s continuing greatness:
You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence.
This is something that doesn’t really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns.
Success is equated with exploitation.
Ambition is looked upon with contempt.
This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom.
But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated.
This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it’s increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet.
And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America:
Thank God for the United States.
Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man.
Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners.
Long may your admirable country dominate the world.
Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states.
May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning.
Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill.
Thank God for the USA.
Happy 250th.
Dr. Jordan B. Peterson
HEAR HEAR !!!
He nailed it.
But task #1 now has to be a complete overhaul of our educational system.
It has to reward effort and merit, and not mediocrity.
That means entrepreneurship has to be ALLOWED to take hold in our schools.
High school has to be DONE by 15yo.
And those wishing to aim for college need three years of college prep, in the form of college level coursework. What used to be known as Advanced Placement.
Happy 250th, USA! Those of you who are blessed to live there are so, so very fortunate. Unlike the rest of us, you have a promising future, all the cheap energy, choices of food, career opportunities you want. Unlike most of the world, you also have your choice of climates. Want hot and dry? Southwest. Cool and damp? NW. And so much variety in between. So much natural beauty.
You have a president who genuinely wants to build up the country. Pretty much everyone on this forum cheered you on when Trump won, and have continued to be supportive even though our own countries are in the toilet. Our household flew the American flag for a week after the election. Those of you who have the honour of living in the US have very good reasons to celebrate.
That said, there have been a number of posts today proclaiming America’s greatness. I do not disagree, but….the point has been made. You have it so much better than every other country. All this rubbing it in is really hard on the rest of us who have absolutely zero hope of becoming American, and who have tried our damndest to turn our own countries around to no avail.
Canada Day was 3 days ago. Pretty much everyone here knew there was no reason to celebrate. Many have given up hope that we will ever have anything other than a Liberal government. Many fear the coming communism. But if we do not have a child in the US and if we are beyond working age, we haven’t a hope in hell of being welcome to live in your great country. So we either remain or we seek residency elsewhere, as our household is currently in the process of doing.
We know how blessed you are. We agree with everything Jordan Peterson, President Trump etc are saying. Can we give it a rest for a bit? It was fine at first. It’s now getting hurtful. Ya ya, sour grapes. Ban me from the forum for saying this if that’s what people want. I’m bummed out and no longer care.
BEAUTIFULLY EXPRESSED GMG . AND OF COURSE AS A COUNTRYMAN I FEEL YOUR ANGST .
BUT IT’S STILL THE 4TH OF JULY 250 FOR A FEW MORE HOURS AND LETS BE UPLIFTED BY OUR SOUTHERN NEIGHBORS . IF THEY REMAIN STRONG AND COMMIE FREE…THEN THE REST OF THE WORLD WILL FOLLOW …IN TIME
