BREAKING: A liberal-appointed judge just blocked the democratic will of 300,000+ Albertans who signed through the Citizen Initiative Act process to put Independence on the Oct. 19 ballot.
Don’t know if neutered is the right adjective — but it is off to a rough start.
As I understand it — Alberta can unilaterally declare itself independence HOWEVER it MUST HAVE other nations ready to recognize such independence and support the new nation state if it is to survive. IE: USA would be first in line but this will take more than 4 years to play out.
This will be a dogfight the entire way — the established monied and powerful elite cabal located in Eastern Canada vs wild west citizens that demand Freedom from the machine that has been milking $$$$ from Alberta.
Powerful world countries will have to make a choice between supporting a centralized socialist/communist/marxist government or ordinary citizens.
10 years ago Canada actually HAD positive standing in the world — this has been entirely forfeited due to careless & reckless mismanagement of Canada’s economy & reputation — so powerful countries no longeer owe allegiance to Canada and thus have more leeway to choose whom to support in this battle.
But it will be a messy divorce ……… if it comes to that…….
If Quebec can have an independence referendum, why not Alberta?
