The closure of the Strait was not executed by Iranian forces. It was enacted through American control of the maritime battlespace. Tehran is merely attempting to claim political credit for an operational reality it did not create.

At present, the chokepoint remains under controlled restriction as part of a broader strategic leverage framework. Maritime transit will remain limited until allied and partner economies, particularly European states and major importers such as China, negotiate an appropriate security surcharge for the protection of global shipping lanes provided by the United States.

As the President has now confirmed, this is not a reactionary move but a deliberate demonstration of maritime supremacy and economic leverage: the power to secure the world’s most critical energy corridor, and, when necessary, the power to deny it.
